What caps did you use for the steel wheels?

We have been running Mopar Steel Spare tire wheels for 2 years. They have Kenda Klever 35x10.5x17’s. I have had no problems with them and have about 20k miles in them. I painted them Gator to match the Gladiator. I wish I could get some in an 8” or 9” width, they come standard at 7.5”. And they weigh about 26 pounds compared to the factory Rubicon aluminum wheel of 23 pounds. We have done 4 Jeep Jamborees and several Colorado trips and Moab twice. No problems so far.

I assume you have some kind of lift to fit the 35" with that much space. How much of a lift?

I couldn’t get Jeep caps to fit. I found some black rubber caps for PVC pipe that I installed over the center hole. I use black tie-wraps to hold them on.

If I did it I'd paint them black. Anyone have a Hydro Blue Pearl JT with black steel wheels on it? I'd love to see that.

Mojave steel spare wheels have the Mojave offset and as an indicator, they are missing one of the holes around the perimeter of the center section.

Hi Whiteglad, that is interesting to know about the different steel wheel configuration for Mojave’s. Do you know what the offset is for the Mojave version? I want to assume that it pushes the tire out further? Thanks

Mojave offset is less, a bit more outboard than other models. 37.17 mm vs. 44.45 mm. That is why the steel spare wheel is different from that on other models.

Finally rounded up all the wheels and tires I needed for the swap, I like it! Getting it all built out for a trip to Newfoundland this year.

I'm running the aforementioned Rotiform STL in 17x9 et0 with 37" KO2's, I dig the utilitarian look with a more aggressive fitment...
