Offset Question - what’s +10mm mean

Trying to wrap my head around the offsets still. I’m looking at a Hankook dynamo mt 35x12.5x17 mounted to AEV Savegre wheels with a +10mm offset. Is this going to cause any issues on a stock gladiator? Rubbing anywhere or is the offset pushing the wheels out enough?

I don’t wheel every weekend so these will be a backup set when we go on trips throughout the year.

Draw a line through the center of the wheel. That's 0 offset. +10mm moves the entire wheel inward 10mm. -10 would move it out.

What you need to keep in mind is if you're going to wider wheels and wider tires then that needs to be factored into the calculation to see the true difference in clearance change to the inside and poke to the outside. You can find the measurement for your stock wheels on this forum and other places. Between the two you can accurately visualize any wheel/tire size and offset change.

If the AEV wheels are Gladiator specific you can rest pretty easy knowing they're going to fit. They generally aim for as much tuck as possible to maintain inside clearance and minimize poke. They typically sit in further than most aftermarket wheels. AEV wheels can be bought through the dealership and typically try to preserve factory geometry as much as possible, ie scrub radius.

You can always just google that combo. You're almost certain to find photos of it on a Gladiator.

It means you need to go fishing for a 10mm where you last dropped it. Cause they always disappear.
But seriously
My stock rims were +44 I believe and under the fender.
I went to a -6 and it sticks out beyond the fender.
So +0 to +44 is from mostly under fender to all the way under.
Anything in the negative side pushes it out beyond the fender from a little bit to bro dozer status.

I was putting a new radiator and transmission cooler in my truck yesterday and the 1/4 drive extension and 10mm socket leapt off my ratchet and sacrificed themselves to my truck. Where they went is known only to the gods.

Thanks all for the information. That page was clutch! Thanks for posting that. Unfortunately i had to pass on the wheels that were posted on market place. A great price, but the tires on them were "new" with a DOT code of 2013.
