Except it doesn't know when the oil was changed. You do that by resetting the oil life monitor.
If you simply reset it without actually changing the oil, they'd not know that.
That's why it's good to track it in the book or in the online account you likely have.

I'm not willing to make that assumption.

For all we know there is a nanobot in there who's sole purpose is to "taste" the oil and report it back to Mama Jeep.

Get the Fumoto drain valve and you don't have to worry about the drain plug o-ring again.

. . . or having to torque it to 20 lb-ft every time. I had one of those valves on an Mazda RX-8. That car had a rotary engine, which according an ancient oil legend, it could not take synthetic oil. Plus the engine consumed oil by design and I put a lot of miles on it. So I was having to change the oil fairly often. The drain valve came in handy.

The car was low to the ground though and it was a pain to jack it up to open the oil valve, in a tight garage. So at some point I resorted to pumping the oil out form the top, on every other oil change.
