When i worked at Compressor Controls years ago - if you had stood up and said "Hey, Boris", 10 people would have stood up, and in Russian, asked what you needed.
When I worked at Elliott Turbo Machinery. If you yelled "Hey dickhead" in the shop. Everyone including the foremen, general foreman, shop manger, and district mangier would all answer you. Ever have a foreman walk up to you and ask, "what's up dickhead?" And you answer back, "same old shit dickhead".

No but there was a lot of Richard Craniums at several of the places I used to work at

My dad's name was Stanley too. His brothers and friends call him Stush, or Stushu. They sometimes called me Little Stush.

In school, or business. Everyone calls me Stanley. My friends call me Russ. Every female I know have always called me Rusty.
All my Dad's old friends called him Butch because He got ran over by a horse drawn steel wheeled wagon and broke him Femur and also got a Blackeye . And His aunt when she seen him in the hospital she said we'll He looks like butch from the funny column of the newspaper. It stuck . They called me little stan or sonny

But did you see the youtube video Russ posted?

The modern oil life monitor will match reality very closely.
What the analysis is good for is showing premature engine wear or other issues, but for oil life, not necessary (unless it makes you feel good)
A very good for determining the condition of the oil.
There is this old man in my hunt club who has never had his oil changed. He trades his truck in every 2 years. Just think about that, for those who buy used trucks from a dealer.
Carfax. I bought mine used with 35k miles but the Carfax showed dealer oil changes and service. Runs like a top with 56k and counting. It had all services performed at the dealership where it was purchased....tire rotations, oil changes, and a windshield replaced. That´s it.

I´ve bought about 8 used vehicles and never had an issue. All lasted a long time and never had major problems.

Sales guy said he didn't expect mine to stay on the lot very long........... the history of the truck is very well documented, it's clean, well-equipped, etc.

You just have to do your homework with used. It's easier these days than it was in the past.

Craftsman and Icon(Harbor freight) 🤣
Started with Craftsman in the early to mid 1970s, and from there added Mac, Matco, SnapOn, and a whole list of others for the specialty tools. My small breaker bar is Indestro and dates to the 1970s and I've not broken it yet - even with pipe on the end. I have a few "NAPA" tools from other the years (like if I broke something and needed a replacement fast, NAPA was 2 blocks away from the shop where I worked)
Some things are indeed HF - my Icon 250 lb/ft torque wrench, I have a Proto torque wrench, a NAPA torque wrench, a Kent-Moore torque wrench pre-set for adjusting transmission bands on BW and MOPAR transmissions.

I just can't bring myself to run the oil much over 5k. I just changed it again, with 5,200+/- on it while the oil life indicator was at 41%. Anybody else stuck in this mindset? The whole "it's cheap insurance" thing is something I've subscribed to with all of my vehicles. But in this era of rampant inflation, I"m considering extending service intervals on everything but I seem to have a mental block on this, especially with this particular Jeep.
i am for sure.

I have shown TWO owners manuals from the mid-1970s that show recommended change intervals of 7500 miles- on conventional oil with 1970s chemistry and carburetors prone to flooding and chokes and so on.
I've been in the business long enough that it doesn't bother me one bit to go that far on modern oil in modern engines with tightly controlled ignition and fuel injection.

When I first started to spin wrenches. It was a mixed bag of cheap shit. When I started working in dealerships. I started getting Snap On tools and other specialized tools. At Elliott. I used my Snap On tools in the shop. And bought a set of Craftsman for on site jobs. Figure if I break a Craftsman tool on the road. I just need to find the closest Sears store. I have sockets from just about every company now.

I have 2 lowest stores with 20 miles of me and also harbor freight.
Thats why I use their stuff and it's cheap. Even my 1/2 torque ratchet is Craftsman and my nm is a harbor freight special edition.. think it's the Dirt cheap model 🤔 😂
I even use that stuff on my motorcycle .
My bike Jack is a Harbor freight . My air jack is HF , lol I'm lousy with the stuff.

When I first started to buy SnapOn tools in the early 1980's. The joke was " 20 bucks a week to the SnapOn man for the rest of your life ". Don't want to even think about today. I bought 2, 1/2" drive crows feet from SnapOn a few months ago. Price was over $250 for a 1-1/16, and 1-5/8.

I just changed mine at 6700 miles and the oil life indicator said I had 37% left. I’m going to start changing it at 5k. 2020 with 58k miles. It’s has Mobile one since whatever the dealership put in it during my free oil change period. I know the pre-Covid and FCA built jeeps and 3.6ls hold up a lot better but I’m not taking any chances.
