Hey guys hope everyone is doing great ! Just checked on the internet that the Gladiator should be taking 5 quarts of oil but when I went to auto parts they only gave me gallon. I checked my oil after doing the oil change and it looked fine. Any one have answers or can help me out ? Thanks

It needs 5 quarts. If the filter isn't filled/full, like it's been sitting a long time or you have not run it, it will appear full.
Put in 5 quarts and call it a day.
Don't go by auto parts stores, they have no idea.
Also - look in the BOOK the Jeep came with. It will state right in it that it takes 5 quarts.

Okay I’ll run to the store tomorrow and buy another quart ! Thank you so much man. Do you think I’ve caused any real harm to the engine this is the 3 oil change I do myself and have always put a gallon.

No, no harm done.
These typically don't "burn" or "go through" oil so likely never really ran low.

What oil you buying that is coming in a gallon container and not a 5qt container?

About the only oil I see being sold in one gallon jugs is diesel oil grades and some boutique brand oils like Redline.

I’d ask the same question. I’m guessing these were 5qt jugs. What specific oil did you use @GOBDAN? Do you have a picture of the jug you could share?

If your oil level is good... why add another quart? I would check the jug and see if it's 5 quarts like other said.

Yeah, I am bit perplexed on how the OP words it. I never go into a auto parts store without researching and knowing beforehand what I am buying and how much. I never take parts store counter advice or recommendations as most times they are inaccurate.

Not ever. I usually know the part number I need. But all I usually buy are fluids and filters.

Yeah, I've bought gallons of oil myself but it does bring up a great point.....is he really getting a 5 quart jug and assuming gallon!

And the stick on these is less than stellar as far as accurate readings

The sticks on these suck.......but yes he does need to be sure that's not a 5 quart jug. I can buy oils both ways depending on what I buy. The oil I've used in my 73 comes only in gallons and no other way.

Can you please take a photo and post it of the “gallon jug” your oil came in.
