Diesel isn't for me. I've done the full math - all of it, mpg, cost of ownership (including routine maintenance and more) and it just doesn't work out - for me.
The gasser suits me fine, does everything I want and need and is simple, oil is cheap, the fuel difference here blows away savings on fuel, it's just not my thing.
I won't talk anyone else out of it - why should I tell someone else what they should or should not buy?
The most I will do is explain my reasoning, point out the facts as I know or understand them, that sort of thing.
If I were to have asked "should I buy a gladiator" in 2019, of course all Gladiator owners would have been fairly positive and the diesel owners would have said (had one been an option back then) that I should absolutely get the diesel version.
All I do to my gasser is routine maintenance, cheap fuel, cheap oil changes (filter and oil being cheaper).
I did the math a year ago using our current gas vs. diesel prices and my 3.6 did better on a cost/mile basis for fuel. (I used what the JT diesel owners were reporting in their how many mpg do you get with your 3.0 threads in these forums - so I used their real life mpg vs. my real life mpg)
27,000 miles on my first JT, 18,000 on this one so far - no engine issues that a CCDIFF relearn command didn't fix.
And the nice thing - I can loan it to my son, and my wife can drive it any time she wants and there's no worry about fuel and so on.

But will I tell the OP to not buy a diesel just because it's not right for me? No.

***UPDATE***
10:00 PM just got home with it. Very happy, power/torque is great, ZERO diesel fumes inside or out, I went and sniffed at the tailpipe while filling up, NO diesel smell at all, kinda miss my 2006 mega cab Cummins 300/600 loud Mack truck turbo sound and fumes though. This turbo is almost silent, but engine still sounds and pulls like a diesel which is fully BAD*SS!

First impression the steering is tighter, noticeably less wandering than my 2022 3.6 Gladiator had. My 2022 has Gorilla Glass windshield, the 2023 does not apparently, the decal isn't on there. Cloth seats in the 23' are not as comfortable as the genuine imitation leather seats in my 22', will be swapping those unless I can find a set of OME brown genuine imitation leathers somewhere.

I see the marketplace getting more and more entranced with big screens and extreme tech in the vehicles and more plush, luxurious interiors etc, but I wouldn't trade the diesel and the simplicity of analog gauges and basic 8" screen. My TRX had a 12" screen and I hated it, going through menus and dicking around with it while trying to drive was ridiculous, I never used 90% of those apps. So yeah I think the 2023 Gladiator is a great balance of useful easy to use tech, power, torque solid axle easy to drive and park, easy to mod and a badass stereo with great subwoofer (suggestion crank all Metallica from Master Of Puppets and Justice for thorough audio quality check and to gain full appreciation). Just all around fun truck. Thanks for the input everyone!
**UPDATE END**

The price is irresistible, NEW 2023 Gladiator/Rubi Diesel. $18,000 off MSRP

I have a gas Gladiator and love it, so much fun, I will never be without a jeep again but the Diesel. I want it bad Im not worried about DEF, but has Jeep massaged out the 3.0 issues for 2023?
Glad we could help

2023 Jeep Gladiator High Altitude Diesel
I've had the High Altitude Diesel since September (got it right after the stop sale was lifted at 18.25% below sticker price) and I REALLY enjoy it. I just hope I have many accident free years of driving it because I won't be able to find a new replacement.

I had originally ordered a JTD in March, but was worried that it would never be built. I had actually given up and bought a Silverado 1500 with the 3.0L Duramax diesel. When the JTD became available, I bought it for my wife, but I end up driving it when I can pry the keys out of her hands.
The JTD I ordered back in March of 2023 is in and finally being advertised for sale on the dealer's lot. If you need a spare, here it is. $17, 298 below sticker price (25.8% below sticker).

Truly crazy they put a $67k MSRP on this thing, or any of them really. To think 2 years ago some dealer would have added an extra $10,000 market adjustment on top of that is disgusting.

I’m curious if they’ll drop back down to pre-pandemic msrp’s with the way they are being produced.

As anyone who has operated them in industrial or agriculture will confirm.
I've owned and operated a few - no major work, mostly routine maintenance things, but they did their best at the mark on the tach with a full load.
I had smaller gas tractors and they just were in different worlds, different uses. I could run my big Case lever full ahead with a heavy load all day long and it loved it, but what it wasn't good at was smaller chores.
Maybe I think back to those days when I think of a diesel vehicle for myself?
(I'll never forget the bet I had with a neighbor after he bragged about his big new chisel plow - bet I couldn't take it across the field from a dead stop with the chisel deep in the ground.)

I'm adding the fuel additive to mine at every fill up and still waiting on parts for the recall. It hasn't given me a minute of trouble so far. Lots of power and fun to drive. I'm pretty much finished with all the mods on this 22 model. I'll be keeping this one for many years! I would make the same buying decision again and want the diesel.
