Hello Everyone,

I have a Mojave, and will be driving in parade/light show. I'm getting used to a manual again it's been a long time. How would you guys be running gladiators? 1st or 2nd? It will be on pavement so I should probably keep it in 2wd...

Thanks,
The Noob

Yes use 2WD. If start and stop use first gear. If moving at a constant speed it depends on speed, if going fast enough for second gear without bogging down engine use second.

If you are in first gear, two wheel drive, you can get it to go real slow with the clutch out -- until it is about to "buck". At that point, lightly start tapping on the gas pedal. Like a tippity-tap, but, not really pressing it, just kind of tapping on it -- this will dribble a few drops of gas to keep you going super slow without bucking with the clutch out.

If you’re that concerned about figuring out how to idle or go slow I would suggest finding a side street that doesn’t get traffic or a large open parking lot and just figure out what works best for you.

Not going to lie, I’m very surprised by this question if a manual transmission vehicle is your mode of transportation. What do you do in parking lots? Scream in at 65, do an E-brake drift into the parking spot while simultaneously opening the door and stepping out just as it comes to a stop? ?

Won't it just be similar to driving in slow moving traffic on the highway (the kind caused by accident looky-loos )? Every parade I've ever seen is stop and go/ slow down at some point.

Not concerned, I just like data and numbers. I also love to over analyze things...lol. I was just curious to see what other people where doing, in that weird spot on the upper end of 1st in between 2nd...

I do like to drift....

Isn't that how you are supposed to parallel park? I mean it would be silly to park like that in a parking lot.

In parking lots I just pull in at about 45 mph and aim for a small subcompact car and take my foot off the gas, the Jeep usually brings itself to a stop once I get the front wheels on the roof of the subcompact. But I have an automatic, I would make sure to pop the manual out of gear so it didn't stall also.
