So I’ve like many of you have been experiencing the phone wind noise ?

?SEE MY REPLY BELOW FOR DETAILS!?

I do plan to drop the plastic piece where the microphones are and add wind socks on the mics but in exploring whether or not, I’m gonna drop that trim piece. I noticed something I’m wondering if any of you have run across this before

There is a gap between the trim piece and the windshield just above the trim piece. I can stick my finger in it all the way across now. Obviously that’s part between the rollbar and the trim piece and I’m wondering if a piece of weatherstripping in there would solve the problem. I’m gonna try it out and let you guys know, but I want your thoughts.

I’m gonna pick up some foam strips after work and just shove it in there before doing anything permanent. I’ll post pics tonight.

when you talk on the phone, via Bluetooth. Has anyone ever said it sounds like you’re hanging your phone out the window?
that’s the noise.
Mine is terrible. And it’s two days old…

So here’s the general idea I’m working off of.
first the gap.
Jeep Gladiator Phone wind noise, a solution? Maybe IMG_8462

I’m using this to fill it. Fold in half to fill the gap. Was like 12$ at advance auto parts.

fold it in half like this. This pice was a test sample. Work it into the gap, it will take some effort.

This is the finished version. There’s enough to go all the way across. I still need to tuck it better. But I think you all get the idea. You cannot see this from the outside.

little update, it made a small improvement, especially with the defroster on. Played around with several settings on my phone and the phone on the other end.
If you have an iPhone, swipe down from top right (when in a call or facetime) see the voice mode top right? change it to voice isolation. It will kill 90% of the noise.

that plus this little thing i did mostly fixed it to the point of the noise being tolerable on the other end. I'm still planning to drop that trim piece and clean up the weatherstripping i put in and add windsocks to the mic's.

Hopefully this helps at least a small bit.

I'm thinking about just using Sikaflex and caulk the top..never want to remove and that will stop the leaks. Doing the same to the back window as new one are on backorder and once the Alu-Cab canopy camper goes on its not coming off.

I didn't have anyone complain until I made my first road trip back in January. The issue was only at higher speeds on the interstate. Would love to find a solution to this as well. Keep us posted.

Another little update
I discovered the wireless speaker which I didn’t even know I had (? 3rd day owner)was behind the seat. it wasn’t properly in there and there are some pins on it that actually connect to the vehicle either for charging or maybe it uses as an actual speaker but it almost makes me think there was a bad connection there and that’s causing the noise on the phone. I don’t know. What do you guys think?

That's an interesting thought. Not sure if that would make a difference or not. My truck has the wind noise on bluetooth without the speaker. Now I have to go outside and look to see if I have the wireless speaker ?

Some trucks come with a wireless speaker behind the back seat that can be removed. Cool idea but unfortunately mine only has a sub behind the seat that's built in.

Couldn't see how this would make any difference.
