how many conversions were really done? 50-100?
additionally most dealers really struggled to sell the few jeeps with bed conversion kits they had. If the JT is too high, there is a lot of would be buyers that will get along just fine with a JL Rubicon (40K) and a trailer or Trailboss (41k), AT4 (49k), Rebel (44k), or F150 Lariat diesel 4x4 (46k), all which can be bought for under 50k.

But your forgetting about $10,000 butter knifes, Tiffanys and the auto loan industry!

i think for $40k I could live with a jl rubicon and build an overlanding trailer for the few times I do that.

Exactly!

I have a Dinoot trailer and use it overlanding or when I want to haul my kayaks behind our pop up camper.
Very capable and cost me about $3K...

When I read your post in my email, I was envisioning you towing a camper with a trailer behind that. Lol Now I see what you got going on.

I keep my options open. Checked out the new Ford Ranger crew cab truck the other day. The bed length is almost exactly the same as the Gladiator but is obviously deeper. Price was right. Also looked at some Honda SUV’s, also priced right. Bottom line remains simple. If Jeep tries to overprice the Gladiator then I think it will backfire on them, big time. Lots of people, like me will take our business, and our money elsewhere to other companies that don’t dare try to make their cars and trucks intentionally expensive. Price it reasonably and they will sell, like hot cakes. I also looked at a normal Wrangler last week and was very impressed by the fit and finish and by the quality, lots of little neat items. And all of this will carry over to the Gladiator, kind of felt like I was sitting in a Gladiator. Unfortunately I looked behind me and damn it there was no pick up bed in the back.

"The Jeep Wrangler-based pickup truck does not yet have a name, despite press reports that it will carry the historic "Gladiator" name. Marchionne said the Jeep pickup will be "expensive; intentionally so" because it is designed as a lifestyle truck that is likely to generate annual sales below 100,000 units. "I'm a natural buyer for that pickup truck, by the way," Marchionne said, adding the Jeep pickup won't compete with the midsize Ford Ranger or the Chevrolet Colorado on price, and won't be in dealerships until mid-2019."

Guys, we've known since the start that this is going to be an expensive truck. You can't compare the Gladiator to the Ranger or Colorado because neither of those trucks have the hardware the Gladiator has.

If you want one of these, it's time to dip into that 401k.

Continue to ignore the obvious and take things out of context because you really have no argument to the contrary. If you think the Gladiator Sport without an single option is only going to come within $2,000 or less than the current JLU Sport, which is the only way its stays in the low 30k range, I have a feeling your going to be really butt hurt when pricing is announced.

I would be perfectly happy paying 40k for a sport S. I have 195k miles on my 2010 JK so I tend to get my moneys worth in the long run.

Same here. Hoping MSRP 46k with auto and hardtop, max tow would be bonus, negotiated down to 40k. I think I am being realistic

I've said it before and caught a lot of heat over it, but I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of sad people out there when the price is revealed. My guess is a Sport optioned out with the max tow is going to come in close to $50,000 before you can get it off the lot.

So now your in the low 30’s? You see you where being called out for stating a Sport with Max Tow was going to be $50. Then in you argument you stated ridiculous things like the auto loan industry.

Ok I’m the one that hand no valid points like who in ther righ mind would pay $50k for a small truck with crank up windows and push lock.

I’ll jist take my ball and go home now.

You've hit the nail on the head for me. If it's as insane as some people think it will be, I'll be going to another full-sized truck most likely. Not worth paying a ridiculous amount more for me. If it goes crazy, I'll just keep trying to talk the wife into a JLUR!

What fully loaded trim Ram 1500 are you buying. Because a loaded Ram 1500 Limited stickers at right at $68K, now I know no one pays' sticker but it's still no where near $40K.
I bought my 17 rebel new for 41K OTD only option i dont have is ramboxes

They better price this Jeep reasonably! I bleed Jeep but if they get outrageous with the price I may just have to switch brands. I want this truck very bad but not bad enough to put myself in a bind over it. I will just wait until some people buy one and trade it in not knowing what the Jeep life is about. The open air vehicles are not for everyone. The tops leak sometimes, you can get caught in a freak rain storm with no top, its hot in the summer even with a/c with the top down or off not to mention the noise. Jeeps have come a long way but still have characteristics of old. People not knowing about these traits or not being use to these type vehicles will buy because they are cool then trade them in when they cant handle the Jeep life. That's when I will jump on one! That's if the price is ridiculous from jump street. I am keeping my fingers crossed FCA gets right with the price.

Looks like the thread has gotten "off the main track" ! ?
I have a NEW thought - it's a bit "Orwellian," but here goes . . . Could THIS Thread of been initiated or encouraged by JEEP as an "in plain sight" hidden "gem" of a MARKETING TOOL for JEEP to get an Insiders/buyers perspective on WHAT WE'RE WILLING TO PAY for the various Gladiators ! ! ! Very Clever indeed, JEEP ! Now you can factor in all OUR inputs - the Jeep Faithful - and FINALLY come up with PRICING on the Website/Dealers etcetera . . . !
;) :whatsgoingon:
