I have done my first attempt at using the power out let. I wanted to use my skill saw, but not enough power, so what will be useful for this power source? Will it even run a tooth brush?

You’re about 800 watts over there on the 400-watt rated plug! You can power up to a jigsaw...possibly a blender?

LOL, that was funny I don't care who you are...

Just a wild guess, but looking back over my total driving years I have racked up maybe around 1 Million miles, in all that time I have never needed to use my Skillsaw in the car but I will file this for future ref.

What's worse, the center console plug and the bed plug are both powered by the same inverter, so that 400w has to be shared between the two . If you want to do anything more than charge small electronics or run a small cooler, bring a generator with a pure sine wave inverter.

Nothing bigger than a bobtail or US Army Deuce n half...if I need on-site power then it's a Miller Bobcat...

Yes as discussed previously it’s 400w total between the two outlets. Yes it will run a laptop, charge phones etc and it will also handle cordless tool charging. No it won’t handle real tools and for the cost of the option you are most of the way towards a real AC power inverter with real output. It’s cute but pointless.

On the topic, what are some of the expected loads people are planning for their inverter equipped trucks? 5k/10k spike sounds crazy until you start using it.

That's why I like the Rubicon. You at least get one outlet in the cab.without the trail rail system If your trying to run larger things get a small but capable generator.

Can you explain how you would add some real power? You say : "You are most of the way towards a real AC power inverter with real output" can you advise?

I'm looking to buy this Goal Zero power generator:
https://www.goalzero.com/shop/archive-power/goal-zero-yeti-3000-lithium-portable-power-station-app/
But I STILL want another plug in the bed-- and don't want to pay the $895 for cargo management system, I don't even want the rails, just the plug! May as well build it after market and give it more power?

Will it handle a saws-all, in case a murderer needs to dispose of something?
(ok, been watching too many CSI Miami re-runs)

Overland, too........ I have the same power outlet on the back of the console and when our power was out for almost a week due to the record derecho, I was still able to FAST charge cell phones - and my hearing aids.
Normal USB will NOT fast-charge LG devices, but that outlet did.

A member or two have added their own inverters and outlets back there, well over the 400 watts for the Jeep system. One even put a battery back there. Good threads on that.

Can you post a link to that cargo management system I can’t find it
