Problems During the Shakedown - What to Do

You know if you want to donate the wheels and tires....

The tires have pretty aggressive sidewall, but yeah it's not good on the shock reservoirs. Spacers will fix it, but then you have the added torque checks to add to the bead lock torque checks.

Doesn't hurt to try another tie rod brand, bent is not broken, but didn't take rocket science to see that it was out of spec.

Not sure if the front end click has been identified yet, tldr.

Thanks again for wheeling with me in Moab on this trip. My parking brake repair parts have shipped, still pulling the parking brake out of habit. I'll be installing the new transfer case next week. Paint has minimized the visible bumper damage, so I don't get questions from the misses. I still have the window mechanism, and door attenuators to order for both jeeps, but I now know how to replace them easily.

That hitch skid took a beating, but it's solid .

The click in the front is the tire lugs hitting the shocks. The clunk was the rubicon swaybar I’m almost sure. That went away when I reconnected it. I haven’t decided on tie rod, but I want a super strong one. I’m sick of bending them so easily.

I just spoke to SDI and it sounds like going remote is going to be possible. I couldn’t be happier about this. My bump stops top and bottom are adjustable, but I’d really like to retain as much up travel as I can without hitting the fender flare. With the kind of trails I like to take, that amount of travel means doing trails safely or not sometimes. Or winching when I wouldn’t need to with more travel.

It sounds like the plan will be to replace the piggyback bridge with a close bridge with a rotating elbow fitting, going ti the hose. They’ll make a hose custom for whatever length I want. They’re going to get me dinensions for the replacement reservoirs, and I’ll find a mounting location. From there we’ll decide on hose length. I’ll either ship them those two and they’ll do it at SDI, or they have a service dealer in the Denver area that does their universal stuff the I could use. I’m pretty excited about not needing to replace my wheels, or add spacers. Both options seemed like bandaids.

For sure, I'm all about maintaining maximum effective up and down travel - so that definitely wouldn't be a great option unless you ran out of alternatives. I'm glad SDI is able to do that. I think it would be a good idea for them to offer that as an option. I didn't think I saw remote reservoirs available on their website.

For sure, I'm all about maintaining maximum effective up and down travel - so that definitely wouldn't be a great option unless you ran out of alternatives. I'm glad SDI is able to do that. I think it would be a good idea for them to offer that as an option. I didn't think I saw remote reservoirs available on their website.

The universal kit is available remote, but not currently the full package. It’s on the roadmap potentially they said.

They do it and then some. I’ve let a couple people drive it to test them out. One of them bought them for his Mojave. It makes it a towing machine, desert runner, rock crawler, and a tall Camry in the curves at interstate speeds. You can drive it like a crazy person and have zero issues with body roll.

So it sounds like what I’m going to end up with is these, just on the front shocks. They’re going to make me a custom length hose, so here’s my question for all you smarties. Where would you put remote reservoirs if you had your choice?

For stock axles, the heavy duty kit with clamp will run you the same or a little less than core 4x4's

Doesn’t the factory Rubi have remote reservoirs? If so check that location or the Mojave reservoir mounting location.

Metalcloak has a great mount for their Blacksport reservoirs. Nice and tucked.

I’ll second the metal cloak mounting option. I’m not a fan of tubes full of fluid that keep the Jeep stable being right where if something is going to get bashed, it gets bashed hard. Back up out of the way is the smart move. Never understood why Jeep decided to put those in the front on the Mo Jave.
