Proximity door locks retrofit on Wrangler/Gladiator, someone figured it out (DIY writeup)

Could this mean that newer trucks, say my 2021 JTSS Max Tow that is built and waiting to ship which has BSM could possibly have the wires already in the harness waiting for proximity handles to be installed?? If so that would be awesome and an easy upgrade.

Yes that's correct and looking at 2021 parts data this change has been reflected. Keep in mind though that there may not be a definitive cut-off date when they start doing this on the assembly line.

Fingers crossed my JT has the new harness but if not you'll be hearing from me for the harness and the handles. Do you guys offer pick rather than shipping? I'll be ordering things in the near future and would rather take a drive with the JT then have things shipped. Thanks Benny

Hey Benny...soooooooo you're saying the kit I ordered from you guys (handles, caps, and wiring) a while ago might be too much because my 2021 JT Sport S may already have the wiring? Which then I ordered redundant wiring?

Ha...sounds good...just wondering if there's a way I can know I have it before taking the JT apart to get to the wiring.

I took mine apart (15 minutes of work) to realize mine wasn't right.. i was hoping my rubicon had it like some have claimed... Nope.. ..

I guess I was more curious since Benny alluded above that the 2021s might have it already as opposed to the 2020s.

Does the Jeep assembly line get preference on parts when there's a backorder or limited supply? I'm assuming so. For people that ordered and waiting on their new Jeeps to be built, sometimes just one of the picked options can hold your order up from being built, while others that ordered after you already received their new Jeeps.

I'd imagine production means more to FCA than extra parts, so yeah.. i wonder if they try to account for builds vs parts, or is it 1st come first serve lol

What he said was that instead of one for NON-Blind Spot Monitoring and another for WITH-Blind Spot Monitoring, the one for the NON-BSM was now superseded with the one for vehicles WITH BSM.
No more:
Left with BSM but with Prox locks
Left without BSM but with Prox locks
Right with BSM but with Prox locks
Right without BSM but with Prox locks

It would be
Left with BSM but with Prox locks
Right with BSM but with Prox locks

He never mentioned if the ones sans prox locks would be changed.
Only that if you wanted the harness with proximity locks, you no longer specified with or without BSM - the ones with prox locks would all be fine for with BSM (or without BSM)

There may still be harnesses for with proximity locks and others for without proximity locks.
We do know that if you order a harness for proximity locks, that harness will now work on any JT with BSM or any JT without BSM.

We don't KNOW if they will all include wiring for the proximity locks - all the superseding he mentioned was no more with or without BSM.
