@ORACLElights is there a way to wire these with a relay and resistor to use to light up my campsite? I had that setup with my old Tacoma and it was clutch.
Tazer has setting to activate the backup lights.

Awesome. Saves me a ton of time. Now to find the threads on how.

On my old Tacoma the wire ran along the driver's side. I tapped into it, dropped a resistor and relay into it and had a switch panel I made over the map lights for control. Into reverse it went on but I could also hit the switch and light up the campground or the deer I was hauling into the bed. It was very handy.

It worked!!! It didn’t at first but I’m not very talented at pushing buttons.

Wild!

Just before I left my office this afternoon I looked it up online.

im certain at least a few people were wondering what the idiot that kept honking the horn in the parking lot was doing.

Little did they know!!

Nice ride! I've got a '23 Rubicon with factory LED lights, so I can't help you there.

However, I have installed the aFe Power Super Stock intake. It uses the factory airbox, but replaces the tube. I also installed the Quadratec dual exhaust. I've got the resonator installed instead of the straight pipe portion. I like both of them.

I'm also running 35x12.5 MT Baja Boss AT's on stock wheels. The spare and exhaust co-exist quite well.
I've read enough about cold air intakes to know that they don't do much other than add a satisfying growl. Does the AFE Super Stock intake make the engine sound better? If so, for $240 (it's on sale), I might get one.

thats interesting. No they dont do much when they are not actually introducing cold air but rather hot engine air. but if they reduce the air temps and prevent heat soak then they do improve throttle response. it might only result in a few hp but my goal is to allow the engine to breathe and expell the air a little more efficiently . thats all.

im coming from a Challenger 392 scat which from factory had a cold air system . the issue with it was it was not sealed. the hood covered the open air box somewhat but not sealed. the air temps would get very high when stopped at red lights. then reduce when driving. still the air temps when rolling were 15 -20 or more than ambient air temp. when I installed my cover it maintained air to the intake 10 degrees or less at all times. and throttle response improved and gas mileage maybe also. heavy car with 392 I was always 16-17 mpg driving as fast as I wanted.

i have an intake and an exhaust . when i install I will review. no i dont expect 50hp

Were you measuring intake air temp at the MAF or coolant temp?

At a stop without air moving through the compartment and across the radiator it will increase the overall temp of everything around it including the air intake. But get moving and heat exchange occurs.

There's no doubt a CAI with a free flowing filter gets a larger volume of air into the motor but whether or not its "cold" is another matter.

Most if not all CAIs pulling ground level air the temps are as hot if not hotter than the existing intake because the pavement is absorbing and holding radiant heat. All of that is getting sucked right into your intake so the effect is negligible aside from the sound. If you compare to actual race cars, majority from NASCAR to DTM to F1 have the engine air intakes as high of the ground as possible.

The radiant heating effect from the pavement is why your outside temp gauge may not be accurate and why actual meteorological temp stations are always 4-7 ft off the ground.

I dont know where you got the idea I was getting any air from ground level but I was not. I had a shaker package on the Scat and it pulled air from above the hood. it was a functional device not cosmetic. the air was piped into the airbox. I also had a tube from the front grill attached to the false light that again fed cold air to the airbox. the IAT Temps were measured by the computer . where the sensor was actually is not important. if the sensor was consistent and functioning correctly and showed an increase of 20 degrees then when I did something and it decreased 15 then it was working. the computer told me what the air temp was outside. I was able to see the changes. without the "cover" I would get some heat soak at train tracks or long lines at stop lights. with the cover I still got some but not as bad and the time it took to go back down was min. I never had a temp difference of more than 10 degrees with cover on when the temps were in the 80's . the car had a big heat making 392.

this was not a ghetto rigged "CAI" on a Honda. I dont buy open air kits . I will try the sealed kits only. do they work? depends on the goals. I dont expect any major hp. if i get 1 or 2 mph then thats fine.

I dont know what you read about. I have had over 60 cars and none of them stayed factory. I am going by personal experience. I said "interesting" because you had made the blanket statement that none of the intakes worked except to make noise.

I can address the air thing like this:

If you bought a 3.6 Pentastar for high performance you will be very disappointed. No lipstick is gonna make this pig a Hellcat. It’s a mass produced engine that is fairly reliable and has made/saved the company a butt ton of cash. It works so they haven’t redesigned it. Yet.

if you want the Jeep to have a better source for air your best bet is a snorkel. Cleaner up top air will help with efficiency and keeping the filter in good shape longer but it will never be a high performance mod. Unless you’re in a river. Then it’s a great performance mod!! :like:

I specifically said " Im not looking for big hp. im looking to help the motor breather and expell the exhaust" better. ive had over 50 cars in my life . done 99% of all my work. im not new to mechanics.

if i change tires and do the exhaust and gain 2mph or better throttle repsonse thats fine. I never said I was replacing what I gave up in my former car.

you guys seem to think extremes about just ideas. maybe im in the wrong place. Im not the only one here to do this so im not sure why the silly replies. I did not say anything stupid or juvenile like I was expecting 50hp from a CAI and some stickers .

oh and I dont have a problem with a snorkel.

let me put it like this . Ive done this all before. I know what to expect. im not 25yrs old. again. done this before. ill be replacing the stock intake for better flow. not expecting big power. dont think I have to say this again . I hope to heck not.

just bought it last night. was thinking of a few things id like to change.

#1. headlight mod. is there a cheap mod? I think my buddy has different headlights on his 22 Wrangler. mine look like simple round light. his had multiple lights within (I think)

#intake. I know these are not worth much but they do work a little. either KN, SB or AFE . I see there is a drop in filter and a replacement tube option which should act like one of the $300-400 kits.

#exhaust. dont want it loud but free up a little power/flow.

recomendations for these would be great.
Maybe see if you can find someone that has the factory LEDs (for cheap) because they upgraded to Baja Designs or Diode Dynamics which are two I would go with for headlights since I have the LEDs.

As for intakes do your research... IIRC the computer is programed for specific air flow or volume... or something like that so performance boost is really more marketing.

BTW I am using the Magnaflow Rock Crawler exhaust which I like as it is tucked up and sounds good to me.

In the end do what you want... all my upgrades/mods are based on trail experience. Good luck!
