So, using your train of thought, I didn't see ANYWHERE that they state these will work with ANYTHING other than stock setup.

It is ALWAYS on the buyer to confirm a product will work with their nonstock setup.

A simple email probably would have fixed the situation.

And I don't like Teraflex products.
I did read the whole thread but I just wanted to address this...

While I agree with you, this is how you bring things like this to manufacturer's attention, and give a helpful heads up to everybody else in the community. And it would be a courtesy for the manufacturer, in a very heavily mix-and-match aftermarket, to add a disclaimer to their product page as a result.

I've mix and matched parts not knowing if they'd work before and posted my results and/or emailed the manufacturer afterwards to let them know. Often times they're just not aware of the issue.

If nothing else, OP has saved some folks a bit of time and headache. There was nothing malicious about the original post.

And if Teraflex doesn't address this by at least adding a little disclaimer, then, that's kind of lame.

Yeah, in no way did I intend on this being a hit on Teraflex I think the ball joints are great plus the lifetime guarantee is clutch.

I definitely agree about the mix-match parts, they can’t test all the parts other companies make for our Jeeps against their parts but if that’s the case then definitely don’t insinuate that they will work with ā€œXā€ product.

The RCVs go in only one way and the ball joints can only be seated so far it’s not like they can be pushed in any further, they sit flush against the bottom as they are supposed to and are facing the way it states in the instructions.

It’s all good you live and you learn. If they respond that would be cool maybe there’s something else I could try.

Now I know who to invite over for the install party...
Where were you when I did this? Carli ball joints, RCV axles and Dynatrac freespin hubs. i would have bought you 10 pizza's and a keg of beer. The unit bearings were frozen in both knuckles. Had to cut the ball joints to get the knuckles off. Then use a BMF hammer and beat the unit bearings out from behind.

In the 370Z world. I've had guys come to the house from out of state for me to do work on their Z's. I'm in the sw corner of Pa. Guys come far away as SC. Just went up to Grand Rapids to help out a few Z people over the 4th of July weekend. Labor Day weekend. I'll have over a dozen Z guys here doing working on each others cars.

My claim to fame....or really stupid idea was doing the clutch on my 1953 Buick in my driveway.
Car had a torque tube rear end and springs and pneumatic suspension (these little fluid filled lever shocks). Well....rather than pull the whole rear end, you can take a come along and pull things back juuuuuust enough to get the trans out. :like:
But a few years ago, the newest ride at my house for these parties was a 1960.

I would be too.

The Teraflex ball joints are great nothing against them just wish the would work better with RCVs. I like them I just don’t want them to rub down the cover to the point then begin to leak. I run 38ā€ Patagonia’s for a combined weight of 125/corner. Kinda heavy but I just use the truck as marketing and to haul things to the job site, only run on extremely light trails here in SD nothing big, no crawling. I have a set of Reid Racing Knuckles on there already because the Rubicon aluminum ones are not the best IMO.
Reaching here, but could the Reid Knuckles have a different deck height than the stock knuckles? Not sure if the ball joints have tolerance for thicker tabs.

Scratch this… I just looked at the pics again. It’s the bottom ball joint and it sits in the axle end forging.

Maybe the hub assembly alignment is slightly different with the Reid knuckles? Since you’re going to be taking it all apart again, do you still have the stock knuckles?

Is there a difference in machining of the ball joint area of the "C" on different axles? Causing the ball joint to sit at a different height. Food for thought.

that’s a good idea. I’ll have to try it out this weekend I can’t get myself to take it all apart 3 times in 2 days lol
