Sure. Silly question- what is Stellantis? I submitted a nhtsa safety ticket already.
Stellantis is the parent company and you should hear something from the nhtsa very soon.

Did they rip ? Or is that possibly the end and they pulled all the way out ? I've never seen the "end" of the belt inside the houing... so just a thought.

So... i think i ripped in 1 of 2 places. Below is a diagram i found online. The red circle is where the potential rip occurred. I feel like it is prob more likely that it ripped where the strap attaches to the spring retracting device.. but i really have no idea because all of this is behind a plastic panel.

That's what I was thinking... just never seen it in person.

Nor have I. Its also very scary. Had I been in an accident in the past- the belt would've failed since before it fully ripped- it must have been degraded. My 6 year old could've been seriously injured or killed.

I completely understand, as a parent that has experienced the loss of an adult child, I wouldn't want another parent to ever have to deal with that type of loss.

Good thing you caught it without any incidents.
Hopefully you get it fixed soon.

If it were a fast aggressive friction yes, but if this was caused by repeated soft abrasion by some hard edge inside the panel somewhere I'd think it would look exactly as his pictures show.

I wonder if the jeep engineers changed a part's design behind that panel and it caused the abrasion on the seat belt, might make sense if the part was changed on both sides and it wore through evenly on both belts.

Or maybe something is just assembled incorrectly inside the panel on both sides?

Yeah this is a dealer issue. Seat belts don't self destruct like that

I tried to make an appointment at my local dealer toddy but they don’t even answer their phone anymore. I also put in a request on the Stellantis website. Hopefully I’ll hear something soon.

Yeah dealers don't give a flying fuck about warranty work as FCA only pays pennies on the dollar, unlike a non-warranty ticket; sad but true

unexplained things seem to get broken, torn, lost or destroyed with nobody knowing anything about it quite often and Mom will take their side.
LOL...ain't that the truth. I'm not wholly unconvinced that she doesn't take their side because she did it!!! Guess that's why I'm on wife #4, lol.

But back to the OP, I haven't seen or heard about this happening either. I have a 2020 Rubicon but we did a rear seat delete almost immediately so my rear seat belts have been hardly used. Definitely take it to the dealer! Warranty coverage or not, they should be aware of it and get that into the system. Who knows, it may have happened and been reported 999 times (or whatever the trigger is) and yours is the one that hits the counter that raises the flag for a recall.
