Has anybody just taken this worthless POS off altogether? I am working on install of a 3 camera dash cam. I have driven enough rigs, trailers, trucks etc to have almost forgotten about the interior RV mirror. If I rip it off completely and hang my dash cam there, I still have two exterior mirrors(you know, the ones you are supposed to use), the trucks reverse cam and my dash cam reverse view should I select it. The windscreen of a jeep in like low rise jeans to start with. I can get extra actual viewing inches, selectable views, and insurance deduction(for the dash cam). Why have that scrotum hanging in your view??? Thoughts?

Whole lot of built up anger over a simple rear view mirror. Hope getting it off your chest helps, but I'd say grab a few beers (no Bud Lite) and kick back and relax. Do what makes you happy. I prefer to keep mine, doesn't bother me in the slightest and I've got an extra chuck of space occupied by my ACC box.

Not even remotely angry, just dialing in MY ride MY way, but I thank you for your highly intelligent addition to the convo. Enjoy!

First time I’ve seen a thread complaining about a rear view mirror. Is this your fist car?
Maybe finally fed up with it and needed to vent.

Your truck, but I wouldn't "rip it off" you might try twisting the base at windshield 90° and just removing it. ?
That's for a standard one, I don't know on the adaptive cruise control one. I may as well have removed mine, not like I can see much with it. I do have a dash camera mounted on windshield "hiding" in front of it.

Not even remotely angry? You go around calling things worthless POS scrotums when you're happy?

As for YOUR ride YOUR way, you don't get to get all pissy and insulting when you come here asking for OUR opinions and you get them.

I simply don't believe you're not a boiling pot of rage about to overflow if your introduction starts with "worthless POS" and your first response to the tiniest of criticisms is insults.

Dude told you to "do what you like" and your response was to insult his intelligence. Dial it back.

I'm curious what the rearview mirror did to you to deserve such an aggressive stance.

These mirrors are standard for good reasons. Don't get upset that they exist. There's a ton you simply can't see without them. They are far from worthless. Passenger vehicle mirrors are made to all work together, and removing any one of them presents a real and immediate blind spot. Your side mirrors, properly adjusted, will not show you the 200 feet behind the vehicle that some laws require. That's what this mirror does for you. I don't know why that makes you so upset?

You asked for thoughts. Here are mine. If you want to remove it, none of us are going to stop you. But dash cams can easily be installed without removing the mirror. I've done it multiple times with multiple cameras. It also is good to keep it there for days when you remove the doors as it covers you legally, in addition to the points I made previously. It also is something to at a minimum hang on to for sale or trade-in time as it's a safety component. So make sure you do it right and don't just go ripping it off so you can re-install it if necessary.

If you're set on getting rid of it, you don't need our approval to do so. Just consider that it serves a real and important purpose before you do, and that you do not need to remove it to get the benefits of the dash cam.

I believe it is required in several states. I would check my local laws before doing such a thing.
