Rear window question

Maybe Jeep ought to consider a rear electric roll up window.
The window would be in the truck it's self and roll up into the hardtop, or soft top. This way the tops would be lighter (hard top) and easier to remove. Aren't there trucks now with something like this?

There are plenty of trucks with electric rear windows, and I think Titans have (or used to have) the full glass slide down.
It would be an awesome idea on the JT to have an electric rear window, but the motor(s) and tracks would take up cabin space and I’d be worried about the water tightness of it sliding in to the removable top over time.

It would definitely make hard top removal a hell of a lot easier though.

I’d be happy if some geniuses made a kit that made rear window removal easy.

Adding motor and rails and moving the cab venting would add weight and length tho. I think the best bet would be to make the window removable like the side JL hard top ones.

I don't know that it'd make it much easier. It's already fairly easy and light, at least compared to any other Jeep hardtop. Unless they made the rear window opening wider than the roll bar, it would still have to go up and over or be pulled off from the rear. Given how far out to the corners the roll bar is, I don't think there's any way they could make the rear window that wide. Given the complexity and space needed to do it, I don't think it'd be worthwhile tbh.

The Tundra has a full power up and down rear window. It's a pretty cool option I think. It would be really cool on the Gladiator but I bet if they did it they'd want a few thousand bucks for the option. It's too bad it's not manually removable that would be pretty cool too. It would be much easier to engineer, less expensive and a lot easier to maintain than a power window.

Oddly as it as this is the one thing I miss on this new truck...My previous two trucks (Both Titans) had the electric down window. I used them a LOT. I'm being lazy but climbing into the back seat to open the only window that's not electric on this almost 60k jeep seems odd. But I still love it.

The cab would need to be longer and I have to wonder what a sub right beside it would do. It would also add weight the the Jeep and complexity. My F-150 window failed twice in two years and it was only 15% or so bigger than the JT

I still think jeep could have done a removable back window like the chevy avalanche. No need for electronics and it stored behind the back seat very solidly. It took longer to fold the seats down than it did to remove the window and latch it in place. Yes I loved both my avalanches, were they as fun as the gladiator no way, but the rear window and the hard panel bed covers were a great design.

I think they should make the the back part two pc. would make it easier and nice to open the hard top as much as the convertible can.

Just brainstorming but what about an awning style window like you would have on the back of a camper shell?

I think a power down window that recesses into the lower body panel behind the rear seats, so the window stays in the cab when the top comes off. added benefit is the top is lighter for removal because the glass stays with the truck, not the top. just dreaming!

I believe Toyota holds a patent on the Full Back Window Rolling down and that is why no other manufacturer has this option. You see it across Toyota's line of 4Runner, Tundra and Sequoia trucks. I agree it would be amazing in a Jeep and probably very possible to engineer. It was actually one reason I was cross shopping my Gladiator with the Tundra, wound up getting the Gladiator though bc I was coming from a TJ and loved the open air driving aspect...and I already own a 4Runner so have the back window option there...

Are you sure about that? Ford had an electric rear window on the explorer sport trac. Granted I haven't drove one in over 10 years but pretty sure it would fully recess.
