Actually, the place I used let me order my own parts, he had recommendations for what kits to buy but didn't care what else I brought. Place is called Axles Transmissions and Transfers on N Lewis in Tulsa. Labor was somewhere around $1000

Fair warning he's a crusty old dude and the shop is ugly, but that guy knows what he's doing and does overflow re-gear work for a couple of the big Jeep shops in town.
Thank you! I don't have a problem with crusty and old and letting me buy the parts is a huge plus.

If you don't have JSCAN or a Tazer already, get it now. You'll need it immediately after the regear.

If you've had the clutch recall done, I'd program it in the parking lot as soon as it rolls off the lift.

Another thing to possibly think about, is if you ever plan on towing anything. If so, I'd vote the 5.13's for sure.

IIRC, you lose a tooth on the pinion going from 4.88's to 5.13's as well.

I'm happy with my setup running the auto 8spd, with 4.88's on RidgeGrappler 37's, (which actually only measure 35-3/4 @30psi on the truck). However, I don't plan on towing anything other than a small utility trailer.
There are 8 teeth on the pinion for both of them.

4.88 has 39 ring gear teeth, 5.13 has 41.

I've got Jscan for reprogramming and am comfortable with it so that shouldn't be a problem.

Mine isn't the 6 speed but an auto. I drove both before ordering and just didn't like the clutch. The auto has been perfect but it is just boring. With the clutch options that are avaiable now, I'd definitely go with the MT and replace the clutch if I were to do it again.

Well, I pulled the trigger. Parts have been ordered by the installer, and I'm scheduled for May 11th. I'll try to update here/on my build thread with impressions.

This will be the first time I've let someone else touch my Jeep for a modification. I'm a bit anxious about that. I recently moved and am in a temporary living situation, so unfortunately, what gears require are a bit beyond what I have available in terms of time, workspace, and tools right now. From talking to the installer, though, I think it's in good hands.
