How easy is it to remove the tailgate guys? I can see there's a couple bolts involved, but what about that electrical connection?

Apparently, nobody here has tried to remove the tailgate. Plus, it's a holiday weekend. I see no reason to take it off. If it was meant to be easy, Jeep would have supplied a quick release connector. I haven't looked at the wiring, so I don't know if there's one there.

Just guessing here...on passenger side there appears to be a black bracket at the hinge point.

Remove the bracket and lift up passenger side to remove tailgate?

(after unbolting the cables first)

Looks like 2 wiring connectors behind the plastic plate. Shouldn't be difficult, just was wondering if anyone had anything to offer before I go unplugging them. Enjoy the last of your long weekend.

So, I tried to get mine off, but failed. When facing the tailgate, the bottom hinge on the left would not budge. I could not slide the tailgate off that side. I tried opening the tailgate at various degrees, but could not slide the tailgate off of that left side hinge. Is there a trick i'm missing??

It is very easy
Disconnect the camera
And take off
Remove the upper small screw on the right hand side
Take off cable bolts from the body
Tilt the tailgate down and pull to the right it will come right off
Hope this helps

Small screw on the upper right hand side? The one holding that black bracket in place where the tailgate attaches on the right side?
Unplug the camera, not completely remove it, right?

I'm wanting to take mine off so it's easier to put on a light strip I purchased. My fat fingers won't allow me easy application with that small opening
