Did your read the Tazer manual?Hey all,
I have to drop my JTR off at the dealer next week to have the transfer case/transmission area looked at as it’s leaking...do I need to disconnect my Tazer mini before dropping it off?
Tazer plugs into a different port.Dealers routinely plug into the OBD2 port to look for trouble codes, etc.
I appreciate itTazer JL mini does not plug into OBD2 port, rather it uses the SGW cables. There was an older “Tazer Mini” (note no JL) that did plug into OBD. It’s unlikely the OP has that one. Do those old ones even work on JL/JT?
regardless, it’s not a bad idea to unplug it at least, or even unmarry it if there’s a high likelihood of the dealer flashing your PCM. Been discussed to death here
It's always best to unmarry it before taking it to the dealer (per the manual) for two reasons:what’s a manual? Yes I did - although briefly
thank youIt's always best to unmarry it before taking it to the dealer (per the manual) for two reasons:
1) Due to the way the Tazer writes information to the JT's brain, if you only unplug it and they flash the computer with updates, then the Tazer could rewrite data that undoes the update settings. So definitely make sure you UNMARRY it.
2) Regardless of whether you specifically ask them not to flash the computer, they still might for whatever reason. If your Tazer is plugged into the Security Gateway when they try to do the update, it will cause write errors to the computer and will literally brick your Jeep. I know...I made that mistake. Just took it in for an oil change, thought nothing about it, told the SA I left my Tazer installed and figured "It's just an oil change". 3 hours into the oil change, the SA comes out and say "We have a problem". They had spent the last 3 hours trying to get the Jeep to respond to anything because it kept failing during the update. Jeep wouldn't even turn on. I had to go out into the service bay and unmarry it so that they could successfully finish the computer update.
Not unmarrying it is like playing Russian Roulette...
You would've seen it easily.what’s a manual? Yes I did - although briefly

You can make the same changes with the Tazer and remove it without uninstalling it.Similar thing happened to me. So I just pulled the Tazer completely and ran a Jscan to make the necessary changes like tire size and gearing permanent.
I did. And my dealer were having issues running their scan. I had to come in to unmarry the darn thing. I'm not sure what happened. Could have just been a glitch. You can make the same changes with the Tazer and remove it without uninstalling it.
