Replacement Key Fob Cost?

Sounds like someone else in this thread got the programming done at a locksmith.
Do you know how much of that $372 was for the programming?

Without the receipt in front of me, I think the cost for the FOB was just under $200

And my cars in the 80's had keys. Never lost one. Not one. Never locked one in my car, either.

I have misplaced mine. I have a new 2nd one so I'll go to the dealer and get a new one from them, programed and tested there. Anything under $400 is good for me.

Jeep prices are much better than I expected. My son’s Hyundai from the dealer is $900. Third party is around 150 but then you have to get the programming done too.

For any future visitors to this thread, here is a more recent cost update.........below is the invoice for my fob replacement from last week. The dealer supplied both the fob and the programming for this one. $225 for the blank, $100 for the programming.

We just replaced a fob that went thru the washer. Part was $235.99 and labor was $94.98. The end of August 2025. The old one dried out and now works fine. We have three now.

best thing i did was get Key insurance wife washed a fob ... truck did a light show ... went to the dealer told them what happened 2 weeks later got a call to bring my truck and keys, told me about 30 mins and i got to keep the old dead fob so i got a threedom spare key holder

What are dealerships getting these days for replacement key fobs? The dealership where I purchased my JT lost the 2nd key fob and just sent me a check for $218 dollars for the replacement. I'm guessing it'll be more like $300. Anyone replace one of these recently?

If you end up with 2 key fobs in the future, it works out well to store one in your gun safe so you know where it is at all times. All 3 of my Jeeps have spares in the gun safe.

I keep a set of all keys in my tool box they are there if i need to do something like a car shuffle,

I have never actually lost a set of keys and don't want to. start now. I have misplaced them but always found them. It's a matter of being organized .
