man, u lucky dog! must be nice to be the guinea! what are your initial impressions?!
A lot of things may change, but going off the initial prototype I like them. The only thing I really wish they would change is making the rear step portion extend further back for easier access to the bed, rack, roofrack etc.

They do look nice in person. If you have seen the JL steps, they are very similar in both design and mounting.
ROAM is local to me, and we have a long standing history testing pre-production parts for the JL & JLU.

that is my only concern as well. just wish the rear step was a little bigger. however I do get that it flows with the line of the rear door

since you have history, can you elaborate as to why there’s a partial cut in the front of the rail? It’s thinner, then thickens before the front step

And will they be an issue with mud flaps? Looks like the front protrudes under the fenders

I agree, they're too short... :crying:

I’m not sure I’d want the step to stretch all the way back but it’s a problem I’ll still need to solve for. I think it would look off compared to the door opening. Is there enough of a lip on the rail to stand on anyway? (Similar time the Mopar performance rails)

yeah @TTEChris , IS THERE? lol
you're probably right @rvillano8188 , if it went back farther it would look weird, and so what if my kids have a hard time climbing in, its me i care about. :giggle:

There is plenty of space to step on. We have been using these for a while on the JLU and my wife/kids love them. She is running 40s on a 4" lift and even my 4 year old can climb in.

I personally think the steps extending to match the full width of the door like the front would be more aesthetically pleasing. They just look a little short and then the "blocky" portion behind the step doesn't match the front.

sorry to bother you with another question, but are the steps curved to match the body line in the rear?
No bother at all. They do curve with the body :like: On this pre-production set I feel like the should curve in a bit more at the rear most portion. I have brought this up with their design team so hopefully they have it taken care of on the production sets.[/QUOTE]

any idea about front mud flap use with these? looks like the mud flaps will have to be trimmed.

Being honest I have never used or installed mudflaps on a Jeep so I wouldn't be the right person to ask....
Looking at some of the pictures on the internet it looks like the flaps bolt inside the factory fenders which should then work. They all seem to bolt in forward of the pinch seam, and these steps start a little back from where the pinch seam starts. I have the lower half of my stock fenders removed so in my instance there would be no place to bolt them.

haha 8 months for me.

I will say I’m a little peeved about the pricing difference. The JL side armor steps are either 400 or 500 and the rock rails are 700. Meanwhile the JT side armor steps are 700 and there’s no rock rail product yet.
I don’t understand how the slightly longer step can equate to a 2 or 300 dollar price difference
I agree with this point. I will be disappointed if I wait this long for the Roam steps only to go with other steps that are more reasonably priced.
