Just curious of how the audience breaks down as far as which option you chose and some opinions of folks with both types of tonneaus. I'm not ready to spend big $s for one of the super cool TruckCoversUsa retracting/metal/aluminum units yet (wallet still recovering from Gladiator overall purchase!) so I want to get a reasonably priced rolling or trifold cover for the Gladiator at least for this first summer.

I like the simple rolling covers since they are inexpensive and easy to expose the whole bed quickly without covering up the back window or requiring removal not to block the back window when fully retracted but on the truck.
...but I also like the tri-fold options (also some very reasonably priced) to be able to open just like the back 1/3 panel to put maybe taller cooler or some gear in without exposing the whole bed.

Also thinking because the tri folds appear to have more supporting structure that they might stay "up" and tight better than the rolling types.

I've watched the various and sundry conversations on the Tyger/MaxMate and various other rolling as well as various folding covers and just thinking that as far as my use the tri-fold might be a better choice for aesthetics and use but would love to hear some real world feedback from people with either type and whether they were happy or not with their actual real world usage.

Chime in and thanks for your input!

I love my Tyger Rolling. Total bed access when I need it and no flip up 3rd to block view out the rear window. Least expensive too

Mike...looks great on your truck! Question...can you partially roll it back (say 1/3) and secure in that position or it is all the way or nothing?

I'd love to see some more pictures from the back of the jeep. Also one with it rolled up. I'm trying to decide between the Tyger Roll up one or the Tri-Fold. Does it lock in at the tail gate like the Tri-Folds do?

It closes by the last unroll flipping into the catches and latching down. You have to open the tailgate and pull the cross cable to unlatch it and start rolling it up. Once rolled up 2 straps at the front wrap over it and into loops to secure it. They are adjustable straps. Works great to haul my motorcycle.

I appreciate it. I ended up buying the Tyger Tri Fold off car ID. I was priced at $196 on Amazon and Carid not only priced matched it they sold it to me for $161, couldn't turn that down.

I have the OEM rolling. I did not realize that you could do that initial "break" and then roll the thing up for probably the first four months of ownership. I had been folding it the entire time thinking, "damn this is pretty stupid." Come to realize I was pretty stupid.

I just ordered the Rough Country tri-fold for mine. The AZ sun destroyed the spray in on my last truck and don't want that to happen on this one. Plus the locking tail gate (which my old truck did not have) makes a hard tonneau cover much more sense.

I have the Bak x4 revolver hard rolling cover. It’s awesome! I’ve had soft rolling, hard covers, solid covers, a softtopper, etc all on various vehicles. I have to say the hard rolling is my favorite so far for functionality, security, price, and limited bed space lost. The Bak is also nice because the outside has t-slots for accessories so you can still mount a rack on top. Fully rolled up the cover doesn’t limit ANY rear view visibility. It’s the height or lower than the rear headrests. 4 bolts removes the whole roll. And I like that it’s low profile.

Went with the Tyger Tri-Fold. Found it on sale last week for $161. Took 10 minutes to install. Very happy with it.
