Getting my first oil change using Jeep wave and the Jeep dealership here is telling me that T6 is now allowed since some TSB that was released awhile back. Any truth to this or just BS? I need the change so I'm getting it done but don't know if it was good to contact @JeepCares to this was false.

I was told this too at local dealership. I'd be interested to hear more from anyone who knows.

Tell them to print out a copy of the TSB they are talking about.

the old adage; If it's not in writing it ain't worth a shit.

I agree, I would want to see it in writing. No mention of it online when checking the TSB registry.

The T6 does not say it meets this spec last time I looked ( API: CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4 ACEA E9, JASO DH-2, Cummins CES 20086; Volvo VDS-4.5; Detroit Fluid Specification DDC (DFS) 93K222, Caterpillar ECF-2/ECF-3, MAN M3575, JASO MA/ MA2, Allison TES 439, MB-Approval 228.31 ).

Here are the ones I have seen that meet the MS-12991 spec.
The MS-12991 spec is called out in the owners manual.

Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40
Ravenol 5W-40 VST
Valvoline 5W-40 MST SynPower
Shell Ultra Helix 5W-40
Total Quartz 9000 5W-40
Redline Full Synthetic 5W-40
Mopar 5W-40 Engine Oil - 68231021AA is for the 5 liter jug. 68231020AA is for the 1 quart bottle.
PENNZOIL ULTRA® EURO 5W-40 Full Synthetic Motor Oil
Motul 8100 X-Cess Gen 2 Motor Oil 109774
Quaker State 5W40 full synthetic euro

My guess is they are probably referencing this one. But this doesn't seem to apply to newer vehicles as @cotnballs2000 pointed out.

Dieselhub says the spec was CJ-4 through 2019 (which Rotella T6 meets) but changed for 2020.

If that is the TSB or if they give you a different one, look for words like "on or before 2021" The TSB above state on or before 2016 models only. Theory being they made the change at the factory after, which would mean any owners manual printed after that date should contain current specs. And if ours say MS-12991 oils only we should stick to those.

I needed to add a quart last weekend. I called the dealership to see what oil they would sell me if I only gave them the year and motor type (2021 EcoDiesel). Immediately, he comes back with T6. I told him it did not meet specs. He put me on hold and came back with the proper Mopar oil. Most of these dealer parts guys can care less about your ride.

You have to pay attention yourself and confirm everything. Definitely get a copy of the TSB, which I doubt exists.

Stop asking for private messages. Just provide the TSB please.
@JeepCares does not have (or is not allowed) that information to hand out. They are there primarily to assist with getting the Dealer to handle your service issues. Copies of TSBs supplied here come from other members who have obtained them.

Good luck!

Jeep cares is really Jeep Cares NOT.

they are a marketing gimmick.

Best advice, take your service writer a 5th of Crown at your wave oil change visits.

when it hits the fan, he WILL care.

I did a search and could not find a TSB about oil in 2020 or 2021.

So I went back to the dealer today to confirm there was no TSB for the 3rd gen EcoDiesel and that the T6 they put in my Jeep was incorrect. Using the list posted of approved oil, we found a brand that met the 12991 requirement and they did a complete oil/filter change. I'm satisfied with the outcome.
