Rubicon bumper. Can I put a winch in it?

This is on my local craigslist. As you can see it is off of 2020 gladiator Rubicon. Can I add the steel winch plate to this? The craigslist poster says it’s a plastic bumper which I understand but was wondering if I can add the steel winch plate to it?

No , not without cutting a whole through the inner and outer bumper and fabbing a spacer to mount a fairlead to. So no .

Interesting, I hadn't seen that. It is essentially winching against the two hooks. I don't think I'd go for it but it is an interesting option on a budget.

The top plastic piece behind the bumper goes away. There are two brackets that attach the winch plate to existing holes in the frame. Then yes, the front of the winch plate is notched to fit around the OEM recovery hooks. Then they add two hooks to the plate.

Since the OEM hooks are still bolted to the frame, using them as a stop with the brackets in the back anchoring the plate, I would trust it to do the job intended, but again it is so FUGLY.

I just read a few threads over on the JL side, and there's a few that did it. It looked pretty good, but it took some fancy fabricating to build the winch plate. I'm considering buying the Rugged Ridge winch tray and seeing if I can make it work with my plastic bumper.

Those over the bumper grab the hooks winch plates work but they dont look all that sorted out for the newer modern designs of grills and bumpers.

But... if your winch is wide, wider than frame rails, you have limited options.

I built a suitable wide winch carrier from an even wider carrier from a different application. All in it fits trim and looks good enough for my needs.

If I had my choice I would have for sure stuffed it in the rails behind the bumper. But my girl has some big hips.
