I just went outside and looked at my '24 Rubicon but see no rust anywhere. I guess I fall into the dangerous category when you mention being within a few miles of the ocean and then wash it and dry it after each visit.

Here in Key Largo FL, I have no garage and the the ocean is about 300 yards away at the end of the street and the Gulf of Mexico (or America for the Kool Aid folks) is about 6 blocks the other way. I guess I am in an area where I can expect the rust to appear soon. I guess it's like everything else here, things deteriorate faster no matter which way the wind blows. It is what it is.
Also depends on the quality of the bolt finish. Wonder if they had some different sources?
My son, near St Augustine, talks if salt issues not far from him. Just a suggestion .....

Yes, good point. Low quality stuff will eventually deteriorate no matter what a person does to prevent it. It is just a matter of time.

Good quality stuff, especially when you get into the science of metals and corrosion plays an important part. I have even a greater challenge with my boat here in tropical waters (high temperatures) and galvanic corrosion on marine engines and drives. It is imperative to inspect and change the sacrificial zincs in the engines or else, over time, it will degrade and literally crumble away. It makes it even worse when you have a boat at a marina and stray electrical currents between boats multiplies the damage that can be done.

Lesson learned: use the best stuff available.

The photo shows the piece right below the windshield. This Jeep has only 2k miles on it. Is it normal for rust to appear already?

Hi Ken,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Once your dealership appointment is scheduled, feel free to send our team a private message and we can connect you with a case manager for additional support.

Sorry, didn’t mean to trigger you.

As you were.

And remember who fired the first shot across the bow on this whole topic.

Don’t start no sh$t, won’t be no sh$t.

Really? We had to go there?
In a rust thread of all things?
Ok, ok. I took the bait.

I'll just say that those in charge of the operations of the Republic are inconclusive about the superiority of one engine over the other.

We can all agree on that.

Agreed.

I want a V-8. Not a great big one. Just one like the 5.0 in my last truck that only cost an extra $2000
