Having bought out the lease on my 2020 this summer, I figured it was a good time to finally rust proof the rig. I ended up using a $50 rattle can kit from Amazon called "Wool wax"

It includes 3 cans and a hose adapter so you can reach inside the frame and other closed off cavities.

I used to rust proof and undercoat professionally at my last job, so I knew what to expect mostly.

Overall it went pretty smooth. Got into the doors and tailgate, as well is inside the frame, rocker panels, sides of the bed and finally the wheel wells. Next on the list is to undercoat the Jeep before the weather gets too cold.

Don't use a rubber undercoat, they are worse than no protection at all. Water will get behind the rubber and be held there to start corrosion, by the time you notice it will be too late.

Once a year I spray down the underside of all the vehicles with lanolin spray, such as Wool Wax or Blaster Surface Shield. It seals up all the little seams and gaps, but it won't trap water against the body or frame. You are already on the right track with the Wool Wax, just do that everywhere.

Glad I came across this thread today. I purchased a new 23 Mojave in July and I'm trying to figure out the best option for undercoating/rust protection against our Maine winters, i.e. ROAD SALT !
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated as I am not familiar with any of the newer products available but want to make the correct choice. Thanks in advance!

I used 3M cavity wax for inside the frame and body panels, and amsoil HD metal protectant.

These products dry with a waxy finish that somewhat self heals. But the ticket is it doesnt trap water under them And they dont dry hard which can then crack and let water in unknowingly.

Blaster Surface Shield and Wool Wax are similar products with a lanolin base. You can also just use cheap, bulk lanolin; it's essentially sheep dip. Wool Wax even makes their own brand of spray guns to apply it if you don't want to use a half dozen rattle cans, but you need to have a compressor to run the gun.

I had the dealership undercoat mine back in February 2021 before I drove it off the lot. I then used 3M Cavity Wax with the wand kit to reach all the internal spaces of the frame, doors and hood and then picked up CRC Marine Corrosion Inhibitor for all the other parts that doesn’t get undercoating. We have salt here used on the roads and the CRC wax spray has done an amazing job of keeping the rust at bay.

Still looks good!

Simply wash the underside of your Jeep. I use an electric pressure washer like a SunJoe. This is important not just during road salt season. Always wash the underside after trips to the beach and after off roading. Mud holes destroy brakes. If you live somewhere where you get storm drain flooding you have to watch out too driving through frequently brackish water. If you keep the underside clean this does more than anything else to prevent rust. Sometimes I’ll brush off surface rust and give it a spray of Cosmoline or coat new parts with it. I also pressure wash the engine compartment. You have to wrap electronics in foil or plastic but a clean engine bay is also preventative maintenance and keeps your dealership techs from hating you.

I've used a product called: Fluid Film on my previous JKU and now on my JT. During the winters here in the Midwest I frequently run through my favorite touchless car wash that has a really good undercarriage spray. I used to do it myself at the self-serve car washes. But after a couple of years of the drive through coupled with the Fluid Film application it still looks good
