what kind of highway mileage are you getting pulling with the eco diesel on average?
My 3.6 goes from 16 or so average running around town to about 8 or 9 towing. Trying to decide if the eco diesel would be a wise choice to better pull the camper 5-6 times a year. I know there are a lot of other factors but is towing dropping the mileage by half?
I pulled my Keystone Zeppelin 19' (about 2500 lbs as nothing was loaded up in it) for 1h45m from Worcester to Pittsfield along I-90, set cruise control at 65 mph, and averaged about 13 mpg.

I ended up returning my air bags, as I didn't want to deal with the hassle of maintenance, installing etc. Installed the sumosprings, mine touch once my TT is loaded up. Definitely was a better ride.
Absolutely the SS made a massive difference. I certainly didn’t NEED the bags, but i already had them. They weren’t hard to out in, i followed the evolving man video.

Pretty sure that was a nice compliment, I sure read it as such. Summarizing your experience well enough to be the equivalent of months of internet research in a single post is no small thing!

? obviously Kstine doesn’t know me or my experience.

I’ve spent 20 years towing with diesel (including Military trucks) and gas trucks up to 14,000lbs. I’ve towed 6500lbs with the Max Tow, properly weighted car trailer with 1995 YJ, no trailer brakes, no WD, no anti sway (I don’t recommend but the JT did just fine at 65mph.

So I do have experience towing with a lot of different vehicles and with the JT.

Personally I would stay around 5500- 6000 lbs trailer weight, WD hitch with anti sway, double axle trailer.

The eco gets around 26+ normal and 16+ towing the trailer. I tow at about 65 to 70 but when dropping down to around 55 or 60 it goes up from there. I sold a Wrangler Unlimited and there is no comparison between the two for mileage or power when it comes to towing.

Maybe you are right. Thank you, just want to make sure they understand that I have a lot of real word towing experience (including my experience towing with my Gladiator)not just internet research.

Honestly, I get about 24.5 mpg straight highway from my JTO, and 19.5 bopping around (-1 in the winter). The same MPGs s my 2019 GC Ltd. with the same engine. And towing, I got 13 mpg average.

we bought a Jayco SLX8 264BH, dry weight is 4750 and max is 6k. Plan on towing it with my JTR
we looked at one of these today…. Debating between this and a Wolf Pup 17JGBL, which dry weight is about 1000 lbs less. Prices are similar but obviously length is much different. I’ve never towed a travel trailer before and am a bit worried about length. Can you give me your impressions?!?

I find it appreciably easier to back up a longer trailer than a shorter one - the feedback loop is longer and you can see what's going on. 16' cargo trailers are way more skull sweat than our 24' travel trailer, my wife thinks I've been practicing a lot more than I have been!

The downside is crosswind sensitivity with all that additional square footage.

Yeah that’s what worries me a bit, being on the highway…. I think the tandem axel would be nice though.

I much prefer tandem for cargo and travel trailers. I've taken both kinds of cargo trailers to San Diego, single and double, and despite the single being smaller, the double was just better all the way round.

It was a requirement our travel trailer have double axles following that experience.

Yeah that’s what worries me a bit, being on the highway…. I think the tandem axel would be nice though.

When calculating the payload, did any of you include the weight of the key fob?
Hahaha! Crap! I forgot about that. Good thing mine doesn't have any buttons. I saved a few lbs there. Btw, I hate my key fob. I wish the sport just comes with a chip in the key handle.

It is an automatic 8-speed transmission and yes it came with the trailer-Tow package. I could not find the payload but I will keep looking. . Thank you so much for your advice(even though it is not what I want to hear) LOL Now I need to find an RV with similar amenities that weighs less. :)
Trailer tow package and max tow are not the same.
