Do your kids not have a back porch and/or fenced in back yard? That'd be my go-to, leave them in the back yard and optionally use a bicycle lock to secure them to something. Optionally throw a blanket or tarp over them for added protection and security.

Not sure how high risk of an area your kids live in.

While I dont think a bed mounted storage rack is a bad idea I do question if its really needed.

Why do you think you need a garage to take the doors off?
Just prop them up against any wall(s) or any where you can find inside your kids place.
Do they have balcony's or hallways?
I have left them in hotel rooms when traveling.

Heck bring a tarp and a cable lock and prop them up outside somewhere.
There are people who do that at their own residence because they live in apartments or whatever and have no garage or place to put the doors. They prop them up against the house. Maybe a bicycle cable lock to at least make it more difficult to just walk off with one.

How about building one of the PVC pipe door storage racks that mounts to a wheeled dolly, but can be removed and secured in the bed.

Okay. I live in Florida. I live in Melbourne travel to st augustine and tampa. So a lot of hwy where i want doors on. Then locally i want doors off. Kids dont have garages. So when i visit i cant really take the doors off

My stupid idea (please tell me how stupid this is)
Build a slider bed rack that holds each door
(Standing upright on a rubber bed & attached at the door hinge to a brace) i have drawn it out. It looks like it would all fit.
No off roading (sandy beach only) and no highway.
The freedom top panels would fit also.

Please tell me this is a horrible idea.
Go for it, and let us know how it works. Totally separate, lived in Melbourne for several years and went to FIT! Last time I was there, didn't recognize the sleepy little town I went to school in. Man has it grown.

It's not really the "Idea" that is stupid. The stupid part in my opinion would be what the truck looks like driving down the road with half of it sitting upright in the bed. You all thought the soft top man bun looks silly, wait till you have 4 doors in the bed sitting vertical. lol

Thinking something like this. They would be attached with a way to slide the hinges into the bed side and have some sort of foam between the doors and under the bottom door for support. Excuse my amazing use of CAD.

I'm adding a bed rack to mine and planned to modify it to be able to put 2 doors attached to it. Even if it just a blanket around the doors and a ratchet strap.
