You're correct, only comes on when the bed lights are on, and cuts off when the bed lights turn off. They do not come on any other time!

Reminding of the time I walked through a mall with the flashlight turned on my iPhone in shirt pocket with sunglasses on. Wondering about the looks I was getting. Chic-Fil-A clerk was very nice in pointing it out.

I replaced the radiator on my dodge Cummins, had to drive to the auto parts store for something afterwards. Found my cordless light jammed between the radiator fan blades when I returned! Luckily it was clutched and didn’t do any damage to the new radiator…

I've done the same thing. One go my magnetic shop lights rode to Ace Hardware and back with me. I've had to do what aircraft mechanics do and do a check after working on the Jeep to see that all tools are where they should be.
