What’s work?
It would be an open breather vs closed/negative type CCV it has now. It would scavenge pressure away and leave oil behind. Back in Nam that was a normal breather, before saving polar bears became a thing.

What is the point of a catch can
Oil catch cans intercept and collect oil vapor and contaminants before entering the engine's intake system. This prevents the buildup of carbon deposits on intake valves, which can hinder airflow, reduce power and negatively affect combustion efficiency.

I ran one on my last vehicle and have been contemplating running one on my new Gladiator. Its amazing how much crap they catch.

Sounds great. Maybe one of these days they will install them at the factory and become standard equipment on all new vehicles.

What’s work?
Both of my ZJs had negative CCV with fresh air scavenging, and both are long gone. Both are now positive CCV right off valve cover, and they were way better system than a 3.6 Pentastar. Those systems utilized an orifice so it was constant negative scavenging of crankcase, no PCV was used. Negative CCV is a shit system for a few reasons, more so especially in the 3.6 it’s just flat ass stupid design, but is what it is. I’d run this breather long before a catch can. Ever wonder why no manufacturer of anything on wheels or tracks uses one? I personally have yet to ever see an OEM provision for external oil recover system in my long career. It’s always been open to atmosphere via valve cover, or use of filter and draft tube or later when polar bears became the hot thing a negative CCV deployed right off the valve cover to intake with fresh air scavenging. It’s an added expense and added maintenance on an otherwise pretty simple process of expelling excess pressure.
