I may have to get one and take it to an electronics genius friend to dissect.
No way that little bit stuff costs anymore than $30 to make.
That would be cool :), please share if there is a diy (ordering to Germany can be a pain)

@P90Ed
It's a jeep ;)
use some tape or tippex to cover the annoying light, and ignore it, turn up the radio and let it ride...

I am mostly joking of course, but honestly there are days when I am on this Forum, starting to get ptsd from reading ever ones else's horrors and I go why do people still buy Jeeps if the customer care is so bad, the stealers understaffed, everything conceivable is backordered, problems abound ....
and I sit here either praying we have the unicorn Jeep with no issues or if I should just run before it starts here.
Love that damn truck though.

It's my understanding that if it is a problem with the diff locker sensor, then you will get a "Service Axle Locker System" message on the dash and not simply the "SERV 4WD" light.

I just went to your thread of what you went through in December. I would bet that's my situation as well. I'm a month away from a VERY long road trip and I'm not hopeful this gets done in time. My dealer says they can't even get me in before April 10.

Just to clarify that z locker thing I linked to is for the locker and is a temporary solution only. Im not sure exactly why it is temporary or if thats just the expectation but a few of the well known youtubers have mentioned it in the past. it would be good to know if the OP can confirm if their issue is specifically the locker or something else with the 4wd

Hello! Second time around with this issue. I searched extensively online and what I found out is very daunting and was essentially confirmed by my dealer (in not such a nice way.) The Info Display flashes "Service 4WD System" and the little orange icon lights up for about three seconds and goes out. No codes are being sent. I've read that this is a sensor issue and that Jeep essentially has no answer for it. They can replace the sensor but it will come back. Mine came back 4 months after initial repair. If @JeepCares my dealer is Nielsen in E. Hanover and they were kind enough to tell me that I could bring it in in April! The are understaffed and "every Jeep is having this issue, they are swamped with the issue." I need my vehicle every day and they told me there's a waitlist for a loaner but if I want to leave it, they could diagnose it but it will take 4-5 business days (WTH??) Oh, I'm still waiting for the service mgr, Roland to give me a call. Not likely. Two calls this past weekend went unreturned and with 8 minutes to go, I'm not epxecting my call back today either.

I cannot have this keep happening. Anyone else having this issue and perhaps any good ideas on a possible fix?

Currently very disappointed in the treatment and the recent experience with Jeep (this is roughly my 11th Jeep and 4th with this dealer.) I'm seriously considering selling trading the JTLE for a Ram Rebel and calling it a day...

Thanks for listening!

That Z-locker sensor bridge seems to be "permanent" not temporary. The option is to patch it in and ziptie it in there or to carry it in the truck on the trails in case the "service 4WD" pops and disables lockers. As there are no codes, I have no idea if it's lockers or 4WD. I've seen everything from speed sensor to FAD sensor, to diff sensors, to transfer case module or motor. It's not fun and staring down a 1100 mile road trip in 4.5 weeks is not comforting.

I'll add this info again:
If it is a problem with the diff locker sensor, then you should get a "Service Axle Locker System" message on the dash and not simply the "SERV 4WD" light. You stated that it is the SERV 4WD light that comes on, so your problem is likely not the locker sensor.

There are a lot of things that could cause the SERV 4WD light to come on. Wheel speed sensors, FAD unit, transfer case position switch, transfer case control module, TC shift motor, and all wiring & connectors for any of these things (I'm sure I've missed something else in there too).

With an intermittent light, it is tough to pinpoint the problem. But, I'd start with examining the wiring per the Star Case I posted.

My dealership has me on a waitlist for a loaner car so I can just leave it to be looked at. I requested an appointment from another dealer via the online service portal - no reply. This is sad. Second time I'm dealing with this and 3.5 weeks away from a 2200 mile round trip roadtrip. Not ideal.

Same here. It's killing me. The issues are VERY random and got more interesting y'day; I drove home in the rain for the first time in a few weeks. No warning tones or lights. Today it's dry - it's back! Every now and then I'm getting random "BRAKE" warnings from fwd collision system, etc. All very daunting 2 weeks out from a 2200 mile road trip. I've read stories of some going into "limp mode" - I can't have that happen. No dealer in NJ can get me in to take a look. I may have to go in another direction...and I do love that truck though.

P90Ed. The brake warning has to be a loose wire somewhere. I haven't tracked it down. It happened to me again yesterday when i was running thru mud, the forward emergency brake system only resumed function after all the wet mud had dried. So i know somewhere there is a loose or exposed wire. Just wetting down the undercarrige does not cause the fault to repeat.

I had a thread I started on this issue but I abandoned it as I never went in.

The Rubi's did/do have the locker sensor issue, are you certain it isn't that? I don't have lockers so it's clearly not that on mine.

If it's not that and a different issue that is persistent even after being resolved, is there any actual impact? Like 4wd actually won't work?

Thanks to you and all for the comments/help. It does disable 4WD when lit. My dash was lighting up like a Christmas tree and I had numerous issues this morning. I checked with wiring at the FAD and followed along for all possible "crimped" points. I found one point and re-did the ziptie that appeared a bit tight. No resolution. This has been going on for 12-15K miles now. 4 years and 54K on the vehicle - this should not happen. Also, in perusing the forums, it appears I am not alone. Kinda frustrating. Even my go-to "paid" mechanic in town has no solution. Not sure what to do with a big road trip coming up and no resolution in sight before then (2 weeks, 2 days.)

I was told that a "locker" message would show up if it was the lockers. They've already replaced a speed sensor and messed with wires. The problem persists. A service mgr said he could likely fix whatever it is now and it will likely return in 4-6 months. He's had multiple Rubis in several times with same issue. Sadly, I'm thinking of moving on and I really do love this truck but the last two years have been "no bueno" on service side.
