If they would have made the Mojave in a diesel then that would have been my choice. Can't believe they can't come up with a tuned spring and shock for this application. Still haven't placed an order as I am not sure if I want to build a Sport S or the Rubi.

Mojave is unique to the gladiator. Rubicons are all across the board.

Could it go as fast as a gas Mojave?

Probably faster since its a stronger engine overall. The issue is that much front weight would require them to basically do all the tuning over again from scratch as different springs, shock valving, and hydro bump valving.

And more strengthening of the frame, suspension components, etc.

I'm still not convinced the gladiators frame is a weak point, if it was it would take more than a few welds to make it a desert racer frame. I'd be much more worried about the FAD taco'ing before anything with the frame really buckling. For my 2 cents (worth less with inflation) the real weak point is that FAD, and the front swaybar mount.

FAD??

I'm not saying the frame is a weak point.

But if they engineer the Frame to take a certain amount of abuse. Then they add 300 lb heavier engine. You now need to strengthen the frame further to allow it to take the same amount of abuse.

A gas Mojave can drop x inches before it breaks.

A diesel Mojave needs to be able to do exactly the same thing without breaking.

With a heavier engine, that means stronger frame and suspension components.

Front Axle Disconnect. It's a complete POS setup put on there for .00001 more MPG. Gladiators snap in half there, especially when on larger than stock tires.

The front axle disconnect where the axle tube is not one solid tube. All the frame welding was in the middle/rear not in the front so I'm not sure how far off the front is from what spec they want but it's probably not the limiting point of failure upfront.

Well, if you put a 300# heavier engine in it, whatever is the limiting point of failure would need to be beefed up. If its the FAD (I learned a new acronym) and that isn't beefed up, then the diesel Mojave will be weaker than the gas Mojave.

That's actually pretty cool. I'm not going to hate on someone else's build.

Haha agreed. I'm a car guy at heart, regardless of make or model. So when I see something out of the ordinary and functional, it definitely gets my respect. I could tell by your reply you weren't hating. it gets lost in translation via web, so I'll reiterate. I love the Mojave. I love the Rubi. I love all JTs. I get annoyed sometimes when folks buy a specific trim, and downplay the others. Same with any make or model. Like I used to have an STI. The STi folks would just absolutely disrespect the WRXs and Imprezas. Some of those Impreza builds would destroy most STIs. Some of them were just for looks, but so what? I'll be honest, I got smoked by a built Ford Edge at the dragstrip once. It had an RS swap. Do what makes you happy. I feel the same about jeeps.
