Newb glad owner here. Just getting started on the build first with new shoes I picked up yesterday. Trying to figure out the lift but like everyone else, 4.5 up front and 2.5 rear seems to get it just right.

Clayton Off Road 2.5 inch lift with a Bilstein B8 8100 shocks and 40 inch tires.
Wow I’m surprised it’s only a 2.5ā€ lift. I guess with the Clayton it’s probably more, plus you have chopped fenders.
Looks great! Do you have any side shots to post up?

Yeah, Clayton does actually mention here in the forums the 2.5 is actually 3+ to accommodate for the weight folks end up adding to the vehicle. Here’s a couple side shots as well!

This particular picture is Berdoo, right outside of Joshua Tree. About half the pictures I posted were Berdoo, the other half Joshua Tree, all the same weekend though :)
Figured it was. I was just there on March 26th and did that trail coming from the Joshua Tree side. Fun drive and cool scenery for sure!

Evo 6.5" Plush Coils, Evo Control Arms, other stuff here and there...
40x13.50R17 Toyo MTs on AEV Borah beadlocks
Stock axles with 4.10 gears, Synergy Balljoints, Synergy Tie Rod and Flipped Draglink, Synergy Trackbar Mount with raised Swaybar End Link mounts, Evo HD Swaybar End Links, Teraflex Trackbar, Fox Shocks that will give full articulation (so I need to get my bumpstops sorted because I'm still running the bump stuff from my AEV 2.5" lift)

*Plans to regear (after selling an arm and leg) to 5.13 or 4.88 (4.88 numerically matches the original 4.10 for tire diameter change but I'd like to drive another to see the difference)
*Plans to upgrade front and rear axleshafts to CRO-MO or maybe RCV
*Plans to truss axle housings but not sure it's needed after seeing several others running stock (I'm not a rock-bouncer or anything too crazy)
*Plans to get marriage counselor because I can no longer understand why my wife hasn't killed me yet

First off, your truck looks awesome. My only question is why does one go through all of this expense if they’re not going to ā€œBounce off rocks?ā€ I’d really like to upgrade to 40s but the cost to do it right is just not worth the squeeze unless I was going to do some serious crawling.

I'll jump in on this one as I'm in the same boat.
Mild trails for me with some mild obstacles thrown in. I've got it if I need it but won't intentionally bash it.
Kind of like buying a corvette that'll do 175mph. Most aren't driving them that fast.

I agree except that the Corvette pretty much comes out of the box ready to go that fast. To build a Gladiator on 40s and do it the correct way, you’re talking trusses and shafts at a minimum, but really 1 tons are the proper way to do it and that is big big bucks. The Gladiator looks amazing on 40s, that is a fact but to not want to conquer serious trails after doing all the upgrades just perplexes me.

As does the gladiator rubicon to tackle trails and obstacles but customization to owners individual taste is priceless.
You'll have to continue to stay perplexed until you come back to this one after you get your ride the way you want it

I’m not shitting on anyones ride here. All of these except that one with the goofy grille look awesome and I’m sure they’re more awesome on the trail. I was commenting about one of the posters saying that he doesn’t plan on wheeling it that hard. That’s what perplexes me. As far as my Gladiator goes, I’ve got it where I want it and need it.
