It is a separate service, it is renewed through your Mopar account, and there is no discount or negotiation on the price.
False. Negotiated a significantly better fee for this service on my JT. It's not a service I use really but since I am paying so little for it, I thought why the hell not?!?!

They are currently offering $60 for 6 months of SiriusXM™ Guardian service - down from $149.88 for 6 months. What price were you able to negotiate and how did you go about it? Thx!

I simply called them and explained I don't need/want the service but would pay a reduced fee if they offered it. I am at $8/month. It's still overpriced in my opinion, but I guess I can locate my Jeep to ensure it's at the dealer getting serviced as opposed to sitting in someone else's garage.

Something I've noticed is that they are more inclined to work with you at different times during the year. EOY is probably a good time!!!

The offered me $10 a month for a year first offer on a call from them no push back at all. I declined since I never really found enough of a use for the service. They for sure would have accepted a conter offer especially if it is time up front.

I was going to let my Sirius lapse...but then I got sent a deal for 3 months for Free...and added that to the end of my subscription...and depending on the deal, I will probably renew, but I am hoping for another 3 months free.

I just went thru this. I had a $99/yr special last year. I called about 2 weeks before mine expired and asked for the same deal. Nope, couldn't do it. I think it was going to be $132/yr. I told them to let my subscription lapse and someone will be begging me to come back in a couple days. Sure enough after giving them a very unsatisfactory survey response they called me back and said that they could not give me the $99 plan unless they cancelled my current $99 plan first. I don't care, do what you have to. I hate bickering with them year after year.

The fact that most of the posts here are talking about having to call them up and renegotiate, and everyone seems to have varying degrees of success, tells me that Sirius needs to re-think their business model/pricing plan. DirecTV has the same tactic, and it's honestly not worth my time to go through it.

My trial is up right before I'm scheduled to go overseas. Going to use that to hopefully get out of it headache free. I only really listen to one channel so it is definitely not worth it to me.

So true they would need to send out so much less mail and employ half the number of people in their call center if they just did a fair normal price. MSRP is $21 a month, like WTF.

My only guess is they must be royally screwing enough people like the cable companies do enough to keep this model around.

I have Sirius/XM on 2 other vehicles, and I typically pay $28+ tax for 5 months on each vehicle. I contact them every 5 months and just tell them to cancel, and then they immediately offer the same deal. I am going on 4 years of that. That breaks down to about $70 a year per vehicle. And I plan on doing that with the Jeep if all goes well. Although 1 car rarely gets driven anymore.

With Android Auto and all the music streaming options (Spotify, etc) thru it...I see no need for Sirius....unless you prefer highly compressed sound.

The content is okay but their renewal process is horrible and they are impossible to deal with, for that reason once the free subscription expires I am done with them.
I agree, not worth the hassle. I replaced my radio with a Stinger and didn't even bother to get the sat radio module even though I still have 10 mos. left on the service.

I've been a Sirius customer since 2005. Your best option is to ALWAYS let the subscription expire and go without for a month or two. $5/month is a good deal but not a great deal; I am, currently, at $1.99/month in 3 of my vehicles. Granted, it's only for 6 months, but I'll repeat the process when that expires.
Well, I hope to have some bargaining power going ahead then.
This type of package deal was always available as well in Canada. Then a couple of years ago they changed the billing system so that the only way you can buy the service is with a CC and it is on auto renew unless you actually cancel. I was doing the same system as you describe but now there is no more negotiating with them. When my GC expired I tried everything to get a 1 year renew @ $99.00. Would not budge off $18.00 per month, and in monthly CC charges, so no one time payment. Then with royalty fees, taxes, other fees it was damn near $20.00/mo. I told them to stuff it. On top of that they wanted another $17.99/mo for the Guardian program renewal. Stuff that too.
I just play my own Apple Music.

Mine ended a few weeks back (free 3 month trial), now being bombarded with e-mail offers to sign up.. I started to check in on it until I seen the drama of un subbing and balloon rate change. I wish I would have gotten in on the XM deal before the merger of them, a buddy of mine did and has a fixed rate contact, that's his Christmas gift for his father and his best friend since childhood. A flat non-changing rate until he breaks it for 3 services of XM. I'm sure Sirius radio hates having to uphold the contract on that one. I'll be sticking with AM/FM, I-Heart radio and Amazon Music or what I saved on my phone. Heck I've been using USB in my LJ for years anyway one large USB stick and I can go 57 hours with out playing the same song over.. :like:
