So I'm coming up quickly on a year of having my JT and I got my renewal email about SiriusXM Guardian. I haven't used the locking/unlocking, horn, any of that stuff. I guess it would be handy if I locked my keyfob in somehow. But has this system come in handy for anyone?!

It’s my understanding it’s impossible to lock your key fob in the vehicle. Supposedly the computer can see it and it won’t let you lock the doors.

as far as the guardianmy opinion is it’s not worth it. It’s a great novelty when it’s new but after the “coolness” feeling wore off I haven’t used it since

I regularly use the remote start from the phone app. I also listen to the satellite radio. It is useful enough that I plan to renew it.

Well I already renewed the Satellite Radio for the reduced deal they gave me, but isn't the Guardian a separate contract?!

I'll have to login and look. I think it is actually split into three different subscriptions.

So, I DID leave the fob in the truck, hit the door lock and started to walk away. A few seconds and the Jeep started beeping at me. Realized it, went over and the door was unlocked!

I feel very special that I found a way to make this happen. Coming back from a business trip I unlocked my Jeep with the proximity handle. I went to the bed that is covered with a hard tonneau cover and put all my luggage in and shut the tailgate. By the time I walked back to the door the auto lock feature had relocked everything. My fob was in my backpack in the bed. It was all locked up tight. After trying to get into my bed which i suspect I could have but I would have damaged my very expensive tonneau cover I stood contemplating how to un-@$#% myself. It actually took maybe 4 or 5 minutes before I remembered that I could unlock it with my phone. I was a little skeptical as I was in the airport garage but probably less than a minute later I was in my Jeep disabling the auto lock. Lol. So I think I may renew it when it is time. Just to have a back up if needed. Not sure what the price difference is for a year of service is vs a service call. But I know my time is worth something.

I happen to use the service regularly. Besides locking/unlocking, starting up the vehicle is probably the feature I use most. This past winter âť„ I'd say 99% of my vehicle starts were via my phone. Personally, it is a convenient option to have so I renewed the service.

One thing I learned over years is to ALWAYS BARTER with SiriusXM. They want your business and have deals ALL the time. If you act interested but then say nvm because the price is too high you will ALWAYS get a better deal. I had the radio service for like 6yrs and always got their (basic) service for 5mo for $25. I just kept telling them it was too expensive otherwise (it was, only listened to it on occasion).

The Guardian can be by itself or with 3 others in a package. I think it was guardian, safety (SoS feature?), and music. I'm sure if you call them up and ask you may be able to get a nice reduced price. They will try to offer several "reduced" prices that are garbage, don't fall for those.

The best way to go into this though, is really be prepared to cancel service UNLESS you get a great deal. I believe their CS is in Manilla, PH so be prepared for the accent too, most are good but some are a bit harder to understand. They may transfer you to a customer retention specialist for 1 last ditch effort, just tell them you'd like to keep it if the price was right. Once you've done this the first several times you can call them back and tell them you want the price you've been paying for x time.

Just be prepared to do this BEFORE your renewal EVERY TIME or you WILL be charged the normal annual amount, that's a bit harder to get credited but you can get the credit if you act quickly (reduced rate if you wait longer). GL

I too used the remote start a ton in the winter, but I just did it from my keyfob.

I used the remote start at the airport when it was in the 20s outside. That was very helpful.

it came in real handy while landing in a plane at the airport in the winter. As soon as the plane landed I used the app to start the Gladiator and it was nice and warm once I got to it.

When my SiriusXM comes up for renewal, I call them and tell them I am going to cancel due to cost.

For the last 4 years both my and my fiancee have not paid more than $5 a month for Sirius (they charge you $60 up front so its good for a year). Just renewed again for $60 a year. If you pay more than that, you are paying too much.

Yes I already do the same thing, but I'm not referring to the radio service. I'm talking about the SiriusXM Guardian security service. Totally different

What we're trying to tell you is that it's the same company, if you think it MAY be worth it at a lesser price, haggle. If not, don't and get rid of it. Not sure what I'll do yet myself. Report back if you get a discount.
