Sold my Gladiator today

Long story short, the $65k Gladiator with a planned Q4 $42k 392 upgrade didn’t make it past the accountant. I see the writing on the wall with 15% discounts and it’s a matter of time (Q4 23 - Q1 24) until the used / wholesale market dumps the value. I sold it back to the dealer taking advantage of the strong wholesale values.

I picked up a 2023 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 HEMI to scratch the V8 itch. The cherry on top was negotiating 22% off MSRP, zero dealer adds abd taking advantage of 2.9% financing.

Now to wait for the wholesale market to turn and pick up a Gladiator with a blown engine and refresh the AMW quote.

I was given a Ram 1500 as a loaner when my JTR needed bubbling paint fixed. I love my Jeep, but the ways the Ram is better were noticed - more space (obviously full size vs mid), better ride, less road noise, and the V8. So I understand the the choice. The open air driving experience, the looks, and the (not frequently used) off road potential keep me in the Jeep.

Congrats! A good move to one hell of a truck. I came from a DT 1500 Laramie and still miss it to this day. Well designed, dreamy comfort and hemi power.

However, I just can't do the size of a Ram any longer. Mopar needs to offer more in the mid-size segment. But that is another topic.

Wow, well good luck with the Ram. It’s a nice truck for sure. I test drove one before my Mojave and it was a nice ride, just didn’t want/need that big a truck.

I wish Jeep pricing was more in-line with Ram Where they sell it like a commodity, not as some sort of Halo vehicle for the rich. “You want a V8?, ok, that’ll be $2500 more”

Enjoy, I had a DT before moving to the JT and loved it. Had a loaner recently, was really nice, just no way I could go back to a full size personally.

I love ram trucks, I have a 3500 but have owned a few 1500s. My opinion you can not compare the 1500 to the gladiator, one is a mid size and one Is full size. I like them both but for different purposes. Check out ramforum.com lots of different builds and lot of knowledgeable people there.

You did it wrong with the “accountant”…………..you need to follow the contractors quoting method where you quote a low price to get the wheels rolling then submit “change orders” to bump the budget to where it needed to be all along.

I definitely understand that. Rams are great and I do miss mine. It’s crossed my mind a few times to check them out again but I need to save as much money as possible with a baby on the way. Plus I think I’d miss my Jeep more ?
