I was given a Ram 1500 as a loaner when my JTR needed bubbling paint fixed. I love my Jeep, but the ways the Ram is better were noticed - more space (obviously full size vs mid), better ride, less road noise, and the V8. So I understand the the choice. The open air driving experience, the looks, and the (not frequently used) off road potential keep me in the Jeep.
Best of luck to you. Hope that 392 Gladiator becomes a reality in your future!
It will definitely become a reality. I’m going to pick up a used 2020 - 2021 Rubicon next year saving about $20k.

So, just curious- did you lose money? It sounds like you took one expensive depreciating asset, traded it for another at a loss…and plan to pick up the same depreciating asset in a year or two again?

Not even being sarcastic, I just see a lot of posts like this on the forum, or folks trading a 21 for a 22 for a 23….etc.

Maybe a lot of folks here just secretly rich ?

Or used to be.......

A while back it worked out well with used prices artificially high. If you bought at a decent price and caught the market when used prices were stupid high, it could work very well.
A lot of "it depends" going on.

Good luck man! Looking to do something similar down the line, maybe a year or so out. Love the rams, had a classic and loved the simplicity and instant torque of the 5.7. Such a timeless design too, sharp trucks.

Long story short, the $65k Gladiator with a planned Q4 $42k 392 upgrade didn’t make it past the accountant. I see the writing on the wall with 15% discounts and it’s a matter of time (Q4 23 - Q1 24) until the used / wholesale market dumps the value. I sold it back to the dealer taking advantage of the strong wholesale values.

I picked up a 2023 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 HEMI to scratch the V8 itch. The cherry on top was negotiating 22% off MSRP, zero dealer adds abd taking advantage of 2.9% financing.

Now to wait for the wholesale market to turn and pick up a Gladiator with a blown engine and refresh the AMW quote.
So you sold the Glad because of %15 drop rebate but the %22 rebate on a dodge doesn’t affect you’re resale?

Depends who he resells to or where the economy is when that time comes. Plenty of gullible, desperate dealers (or private parties) out there to trade/sell to.

Isnt the 5.7 in a Ram full size similar in feel / speed as a 3.6 in a mid size? A lot bigger truck needs a bigger engine to keep up.
This 3.6 feels nothing like the Hemi in a full size

Speaking of gullible private parties out there, I am considering selling my total stock 2020 Gladiator Rubicon with 46,000 miles on it. It's never even been off-road since I've had it. I bought it used in 2021 with only 15,000 miles. Just for the helluvit I input the info into Carvana and they offered me $34,000+. Yikes! Yeah, right. I THINK if I sell it myself I can get somewhere over the mid 40,000's for it.

I like my truck really well though it's not very comfortable for my girlfriend when we take 500 mile round trips to central California to visit her son and our grand daughter. She's got problems with a couple of vertebra due to osteoporosis and its only going to get worse over time.

Thinking of a late used GMC Denali 1500 for the space and comfort. I had a 2014 2500HD Denali before the Gladiator. It was a very nice truck and I kinda miss it, though a '19 or '20 has more features of course as a true ON-road pickup.

Almost 4 years old, 46k miles and new ones are about $15k below MSRP now. $34k seems right, but more power to you trying to find that new lucky owner!

I had an 08 Power Wagon with the 5.7 Hemi. Loved that truck. If I had to get a full size truck again. It would be another Power Wagon.
