Thank you, sounds similar to mine, hopefully can pinpoint it exactly and kill it.. on the one uneven road by me it does the noise almost the whole drive
Yeah it’s bone chilling at the moment, even in the garage, but the second It gets back into the 30s I’ll get under there and pinpoint, post some pics...

@fun2drum thanks for your description. That is spot on to what I hear. I just passed 36k and dealer couldn’t find anything right before getting out of warranty (of course).

I did replace my front sway bar links. Had an issue in the Maze in Canyonlands with a rattle and when I inspected, one sway bar link’s nut was GONE and the threads completely worn so it had been like that awhile. The other link was loose. I dropped into Moab and replaced them both. I thought the sound was in the front but it could be in the rear. It is definitely much worse when cold and intermittent.

Given the front links were likely not tight enough from the factory, I will check out the rears tomorrow.

If you have a random grinding (metal on metal) in the front, pull the cotter pins on your lower ball joints and make sure they’re the castle nuts are tight (I also had that issue, which is a known issue in the JL community that has carried to the JTs) mine were finger tight from the factory

As far as the most recent noise (in the posted vid)...It most certainly was the grommets that hold the exhaust hangers...can’t believe It would make a noise like that (similar to a blown shock absorber going over bumps is what I heard)...but crawled under today, hosed down the front and back of the first two hangers with WD40( just temporary to prove it out, gonna put a good dressing of marine grade grease on em soon)sort of jossled the exhaust around to work It in....problem solved!!!! Noise gone! First pic is front grommet (looking toward front of truck), second is middle grommet (looking towards rear of truck). Theirs a grommet behind the second that I sprayed but didn’t take a pic as It wasn’t making any noise at all.

A year now and mine is silent still after getting some marine grade green grease from advanced auto parts, safe for bushings, grease gun and a needle attachment to squeeze it in.

Excellent!! Just out of curiosity what did you use. The WD40 I originally used lasted up until about now (getting bitter cold again) almost a year, so I never did the grease, but now it’s time for the more adequate dressing. I have Lucas Marine Grease that I use for my GP1800, stuff is great, was gonna use that but just curious what worked for you….

It's called Green grease, I'll attach a picture. The grease gun if you need one came from harbor freight basic cheap and the needle attachment is from tractor supply. I slid it past the bushing on both sides of it and just put a lot in there. wiped off excess and now that it's cold again I've heard nothing. This stuff is also high temp rated up to 500 degrees.

Local long-time Jeep tech always sez: "Jeep's will do that. Just ignore it."
