I find this normal. Figure it to just be technology glitches. Its never affected mine differently, but happens occasionally. I also found on these trucks that short drives vs long drives dont matter. Soot builds and regens the same. I found that increasing the frequency of my air filter changes from the service manual rec down to every 7500mi or below was the largest contribution to better passive regen. These things are incredibly sensitive to air intake. I tried a Rislone DEF treatment once, it shot my EGR and Turbo Temps through the roof, like 1800 and above putting the truck into reduced power mode. Never touched it again, never had an issue again.

I have to be different from you. Back and forth from work. My regens are around the 750 to 800 mileage. On trips, it's around 950 mileage.

Thats crazy mileage to me lol. Mine hit every 100mi or so. Even more frequent when towing, according to my Banks. They always start at 80% DPF as they should. On a trip from Salt Lake to Moab, ill regen 2 to 3 times and empty a full tank of def when towing. Always been that way.

Interesting I used all three Rislone treatments DPF, DEF & SCR at the sametime and didn't have any issues and haven't had any issues with the the DPF since the treatment.

To be completely fair, I have no evidence that says the Rislone was the exact cause except the fact that it has only ever occurred once, right after is used the Rislone, but if could have been an incredible coincidence. Or I got a bad Rislone batch. Idk what happened, but hasn't happened since. I used the one for DEF.

Understable, I probably wouldn't use it again either if that happened to me. I was pretty hesitant about using it myself but it seemed to work for me.

Those seem like abnormal use DEF use level and high regen cycles.

I average a tank of def every few thousand miles and only hit regen every so often especially after lots of local driving.

That level of def use is only when towing. Its normal usage is about ever few k miles. The regens are just always frequent. About once a week for me. Its the way its been since the beginning, even after I had a new DPF installed. No other issue seem present. Really, I dont mind, the system wont be a long term nuisance.

On my last trip from just south of Pittsburgh Pa. to Bloomfield NM (1,800 miles one way) and back. I had 4 regens the whole time. My regens start at 80% too.

I avg about 2.5 gallons of DEF for 2,400 to 2,500 miles.

I haven't recorded how many miles I get on a tank, but I did finally test how much actually fits after seeing we have a 5 gal tank. I ran it down to 100 miles left and I fit around 4.75 gal, which irritates me because I've always just added one 2.5gal jug when I'd get to around 200 miles left and it would always show full on the gauge. Clearly thats not accurate.

Different brands and quality of fuel can cause this. I see soot levels vary when on road trips when I have to run different brands of fuel depending on where I am. Thats also the only time I see it get high enough to regen, and the only time I've ever had forced regen problems is when on road trips and using different brands. At home with Cenex fuel I seldom see soot over 50 even with short commutes. Holiday fuel causes my soot levels to be higher. When I had my deleted BMW diesel any time I ran Holiday fuel my rear bumper would be black after one tank.

Being new to the diesel world I don't think I ever thought about the fuel causing the issue. This makes more since especially given the issues I had on my trip from TX up to ID and back. I didn't necessarily pay attention to where I got gas I would just stop at the places that had diesel and fill up.

I tried that when I first bought it and I could only get half of it in there, so then I started waiting until the 200 mile mark when I knew it would let me use a whole jug.

I know it uses a sonar type gauge system (I forget the proper term), My guess is it's not very accurate, or maybe mine is effed up. Not too worried, I suspect the tank is going to fall out on the highway soon...
