Does anyone know the size of the square head on the crank for the spare tire?

My truck did not come with the jack or any of the tools, so I don't have the handle to lower my spare tire. All of the jack handles from other vehicles I have laying around don't fit the spare tire crank, and I don't feel like spending the absurd amount on a factory jack kit from Mopar (especially when I literally just need the handle) and all the Amazon ones have multiple reviews of rounding the square ends while trying to raise/lower the spare.

I believe a long extension for a 3/8" ratchet works.

Look around at other midsize truck spare kits…..I can’t say for certain, but my Tacoma spare kit looked just about identical to the JT’s.

Tried this, doesn't fit, I believe due to the outside diameter of the extension.

Did you try a 1/2” extension it fits a little loose but enough to grab onto it?

You know what, I didn't. I tried a socket a while back and it got stuck because it was too fat, so when the 3/8" didn't fit I just assumed it was too big to fit into the guide so I didn't even bother with a 1/2". I'm 95% sure my 1/2" will be too large OD, but I'll give it a try tonight.

I used an impact grade 1/2” drive extension and it was tight at the bumper but opened up once I got passed that part and once you get it on there it is a little loose but has more than enough contact to get the spare down.

I was like you and tried a 3/8” drive extension first and ran into the same problem but figured I would try a 1/2” extension and it slipped on, that should get you by until you are able to locate the tools. Wrecking yard is probably your best bet

I'm using the jack extension rod from my 1998 Dodge Ram, it is the same size square end, but it is one single length instead of two shorter pieces that assemble like the JT. I decided to carry the Ram's mechanical bottle jack instead of the JT scissor jack too; it is more compact.
