Looking to buy a Gladiator here shortly and still trying to decide between either a Sport S or Overland. The Gladiator will be used for day to day city/highway streets driving, with some road trips mixed in there. If I’m looking for a comfortable ride for my family, which is the best ride?

I’ve rented a sport before, but never rode in an Overland.

The Overland is the one you want, for the use described. That's how I am using mine, and what I bought three years ago. Over 32k miles, including some long road trips. I would suggest adding all the options. The Adaptive Cruise Control is great for highway driving and when dealing with heavy traffic.

I custom ordered mine last year and do quite a bit of overland camping. I chose the sport s because I didn’t want the leather dash, the 18” wheels, or the chunky side steps. I opted for customer package 26S and that gave me all of the luxury upgrades I wanted for far less. If you plan to leave it stock and drive it on the street, the overland will be slightly more comfortable due to the slimmer sidewalls and extra leather bits.

I agree with the others (Overland) as long as you don't plan on having a bunch of people/cargo on your trips or towing heavy loads.

If you plan to have a full load of people/gear or towing, look into the payloads of each trim as you may be more inclined to pick up a sport s with the max tow package. The negative trade off with max tow is stiffer springs (harsher ride) for daily driving.

I've had my Overland 30 months and over 26,000 miles. I've towed with it (5,000 worth of car and car hauler), I've hauled 1,000 pounds of concrete landscaping block in the back, we've driven it to Fort Wayne and back, Colorado Springs and back, and several other trips in between.
It's comfortable as heck, my wife likes driving it and drove about almost straight through from Colorado Springs back to Des Moines, stopping only for gas and to clean the bugs off the windshield (and later to get ice cream)
It's one of the most comfortable trucks I've ever had and has turned into our daily driver.
My Overland gets good mpg and tows fine. (I'm getting almost 21 just driving around)

As far as Sport S - keep in mind, you won't get increased payload unless you go the max tow version.

I’ve driven my Sport S over 41k miles, mostly freeway. I’ve found it very comfortable and easy to drive. If I got another, I’d order one with the advanced safety options, but probably still get a Sport S. I don’t want leather in a work truck.

I've had leather and fabric in my trucks.......... the non-leather were a lot harder to keep clean. I managed, but had to be careful. The leather cleaned right up with saddle soap.

You realize you don't have to get leather, right?
Overland comes standard with fabric. The "leather trimmed" seats are extra.

These are the Overland choices ->

I have a Sport S Max tow and got if for the payload and towing. I do drive it every single day and have no complaints. I have all the safety packages so I set the ACC and it is awesome keeping the distances. Also the blind spot is great! I get about 20 mpg.

However the overland is the more luxury daily driver if you are not looking to tow or have the most payload.

I have a Sport S. It’s red. I only got the Sport S model cause it was all the dealer had that wasn’t black, white, or silver at the time; and FCA was offering crazy incentives, which helped offset the negative equity in my challenger I traded.

They are both good. If you are using it as your daily driver and basically a commuter vehicle get the Sport S.

I'm biased, as I drive an O'land. I wanted the leather, as it is way easier to keep clean than cloth... just wipe down with a damp cloth, a few times a year detail it with leather conditioner. There are many other features I wanted, such as the Alpine audio, heated seats, etc.

I have used it as a truck. Last year hauling materials for our house remodel, I was picking up tile and flooring by the pallet... 35 cases of LVP (roughly 1,100lbs) will drop the rear about 3 inches...

Check out the rebates for your location also. Where I'm at, it's not unusual for the Overland to have a bigger rebate, which negates the difference in price or can even make it more attractive.
