USAA doesnt cover squat. I just spoke with them a few months ago about adding extra coverage on my JT and TJ and they said they can only cover up to $1,000 worth of accessories. Thats a joke. On top of that they told me they appraise at KBB with no exception or adjustment. Well all know KBB wont evenget close to touching the cost of these rigs. I just have been too busy to tell them off and switch to a different insurance company.
Are you sure that's a USAA decision about accessories and not a State Insurance Commission decision? USAA covers 5k in accessories in my state, and when I asked them why that amount/limit they said it's the state's insurance commission who sets the limit.

Also, "appraising at KBB" means one of a multitude of things. Unless they said it outright, i do not believe they are referring to trade-in value.

I’m currently insured with All State. My rate will go up next month so I began to shop around and so far GEICO is my best option, I’m waiting to see their price for my 17’ 3000 lbs travel trailer.
State Farm will not insure my 2021 Willys eco diesel Gladiator!!
No reason was provided.
What is the over riding fear of a Jeep Gladiator that makes State Farm wet their pants and cry like a little girl?
There are sooooo many factors that go into this that nobody here will be able to say why they aren’t interested in insuring you. But they do not have an aversion to Gladiators. Something about your situation is a red flag to them, only they can say what it is.

Rather than stew on something you’ll never get an answer to, I’d recommended just going with another carrier and calling it a day.

They will insure our Nissan Sentra and travel trailer. The gal said would I like to write it up?
DOH! Sure let me sign up and I’ll just spend time getting the JT insurance elsewhere, fer sure! She sounds like a real genius agent!!

USAA Charges me $415 more for my gladiator despite my wife driving an Audi an RS6. I guess they are afraid I may take the Mohave past 75 mph.

I would ask them to quote you on a gas Gladiator and see if they are willing to write a policy on that. If not, I would say it then lies within some reason they have against you.

I know there has been a few people having issues getting warranty work done on their diesel HPFP and grenading their fuel system and having to do a comprehensive insurance claim. They might see more risk in insuring a diesel.

When I sold my Diesel Gladiator (HPFP drama) and switched to a gas model, my insurance went down $650 / 6 month term.

Funny….how insurance is mandated by law yet companies refuse to provide services despite law mandates.
The only thing required is liability, etc. . Nothing else is required.
They have the right to refuse service that is going to be too expensive for them to provide - so maybe it's a matter of not providing "full coverage" but will cover other things. It also varies with what state you live in.
Look at homeowners in California - two reasons - expense and the rules they must abide by. Not worth it.
Any company or business must make money - and policy holders are stake-holders in a mutual company. So the board has to do what they are told or be ousted.

It's not as simple as some would like to believe these days. Had a long chat with my own agent about the skyrocketing theft issue, skyrocketing costs of repairs, and tough time getting parts for repairs. It's costing them bigly.

Don't do that to yourself. The money you're saving won't seem like a great deal if you ever need to file a claim
Yeah, ask my son....... funny thing, he thought it was saving a ton of money (you do save when you "switch" but they get it back in the end)
He ended up calling the same agent he had when in Iowa, and the same agent I've had since 1982, getting a better deal with a very reliable agent. It might not be the cheapest, but there won't be arguments later.

Financed vehicles require full coverage. now maybe thats a bank thing possibly or maybe a state thing but I have never in my life seen a new vehicle without full coverage.

That's a totally different matter - required by the finance company. The loss payee is the finance company and it's got to be covered for the value of the vehicle. Here's the kicker there - you may owe more than a vehicle is worth and have high enough deductible that you still end up owing the financial institution money.
It's like your home mortgage - you must insure and maintain the property and so on, pay all taxes and such. Your policy - for home, car or whatever, is a contract. Your vehicle loan is a contract, your insurance policy is a contract.

There's no legal responsibility or mandate saying an insurance company has to provide anything. (but there are certain reasons they can't deny coverage - which is only right)

It's like anything else - I can refuse to do work for you if I decide it's going to cost me too much money or time. Insurance is a business and the officers are responsible to the stake-holders.
I can't blame a company for not insuring something if the cost or risk is too high.
You can't legislate that a company lose money.

And likely there's more to this story than we know (and there almost always is in threads like this - it's often taken at face value by responders, but do we know ALL of the facts?)

My agent is always blunt and honest about what we talk about. So much so that once he actually recommended a different company for a type of coverage I wanted (of course he sent me that message from is personal account) We recently had this "what's going on with these numbers" conversation. I have also followed what's going on in other places insurance-wise.
When inflation in general is 9%, when the cost of a given vehicle shoots up 6K in a year, something's got to give.

Me too, why I'm loyal to them. They based insurance on cc's and not being sports.. $30ish a month on cbr600rr and r6. Less than $50 a month on a Duc 1098. full coverage. They also covered "track day" accidents!
I pay $39 a month for my 2007 Honda VFR.

Same here in TN. Up until 2018 I kept right at 6 figures on deposit with them, And have been with them since I was signed up the day I left OSUT training for their auto insurance at Fort Knox In 2003. Got a wild hair in 2018 and called progressive. No accidents, never had a ticket. USAA Was 60% more for a 6 month premium, and covered less. I never looked back after requesting a rate review and having them tell me that such a thing doesn’t exist.
