I've been contemplating EV for daily, but it's not cost effective until I can pay cash for one. Adding a second car payment defeats the purpose of saving money. I've got a BMW 3 series that I daily now, so I'll drive that until it dies and then see what i can find in EV.
We replaced a gas powered second car with an EV when the time came (the gas powered car was at the end of its life).
The second EV we have is a company EV. The 2 Jeeps, along with the motorcycles, are our "fun" vehicles. We are lucky that we can have vehicles for regular use and vehicles for fun.
The EVs really insulate us from the price of gas most of the time.

I just saw the following news article where diesel prices are at an all-time high of ~$8.00/gallon in San Francisco.

https://www.newsweek.com/san-francisco-diesel-prices-approach-historic-peak-11783266

Well aware they are increasing everywhere....

I've had to pay ~$5.69/g around me, but fortunately, I work from home and only have to fill up every few weeks. I think at $8.00 I would seriously consider alternatives.

Wondering how folks are handling it; changing driving habits, temporarily parking and going for lower cost options, or just 'eating' it?
The diesel still gets double the fuel economy of us v6 drivers... and gas is $6/gallon. Still cheaper to drive the EcoD.

Not $8 around me yet but clocking over $100 on a fillup was pretty rough. First time for that in a long time and that was on a full size truck with a larger tank.

I paid $7.99 yesterday in the mountains, but only bought 5 gals to top up. Honestly for the 4-6K miles I drive this thing per year now, It's not going to kill me. Most responsible people will just adapt.......Like less trips through the Starbucks/Dutch Bros drive though or cutting back on hookers/blow?

I'm more concerned about industries that rely on transportation and/or manufacturing that contain petroleum products.

My phone at the shop stopped ringing in early March, so I know people are feeling the pinch.

I just paid $5.69 for fuel yesterday. I drive 70 miles round trip for my commute. These oil companies are the ones holding us hostage to the war. We get less than 5% of our oil from that region.

My understanding is that CA is supplying most of NV and AZ with fuel and CA is importing most it's the oil and a good portion of already processed gasoline.

We have lost 2 refineries (approx 20% of refining capacity) in the last 6 months because the environmental regs were too stringent and the cost too high to justify the investment in upgrades to comply with the ending of ICE vehicles coming.

CA now will be importing even more gas than we did last year. Since CA is importing mostly from India, South Korea, Taiwan, and Bahamas.....where are they sourcing their oil from?

The loss of those refineries was partially due to your Governor. 90% of the fuel for the US comes from the US and Canada. Your Governor is also wanting to hold back fuel from NV and AZ to have more for California.

Did you notice that I didn't how I didn't cross that line involving politics in my post?

For the record......... CA's governor, not mine.........I didn't vote for him. We up in the far north have been trying to bust away from the cesspool since 1941!

Everyone with these impressive mpg numbers has an average speed of 40mph. At over 1400 miles in the last 6 days I'll take my average speed of 75mph even if it comes with 12mpg (v6 doesn't get much better than 15mpg even at 40mph). The 600 mile drive to our desert property happens every 6-8 weeks and time is more precious than fuel economy. Even if it got 20 plus mpg at 40mph I wouldn't do it.

That wasn't a 40mph average. We did between 60 and 80mph for 350 of those miles, mostly around 70. Then 25 or so miles on forest service dirt roads, the last 50 miles was around town and stop and go. There was a fair amount of elevation change through out the whole weekend.
The JLURD is on stock wheels with stock Falken AT3W tires.
Trust me, my time is more important than the fuel. I stick with the faster side of traffic.

If this keeps up that makes it temping to buy some Rubi take offs again. Maybe I will start with taking some of my gear out to lighten it a little more.

I guess your trip computer lies then? 435 miles driven over 10:45 minutes of run time is right at... 40mph average because math. 40.46mph to be exact.
