While you're at it, I do recommend the extra cash for a lube locker. You'll have no good excuse anymore for inspecting your gears with each fluid change.
That looks way better than trying to use that glue stuff with out making a mess, thanks!

And on a previous jeep with a rear D44 and stock cover, i slid the rear diff forward over a rock and peeled the rear cover enough to have a slight gear oil leak. It is a thing
But that won’t happen with one of these beefier options?

Thank you. So is the bottom of the pumpkin pretty thick? When I hit the obstacle the other day the cover seemed to take the brunt of the damage the housing was just scratched a bit.
Yes, the bottom of the center section is fairly think & robust.

With one of the heavy cast iron covers, you won't peel back a cover. No matter which one you install, I recommend doing a 'dry fit' to see if it hangs down below the bottom of the center section at all. If it does, use a scribe to mark it, then grind to match the profile. Little things like this will help you slide over rocks.

Would a diff skid on the stock cover prevent the peeling issue?

The metalcloak stuff has been bullet proof for me. Here is a pic of the front and back nodular iron diff covers and front and back skids.

Is it messed up that I get a feeling of joy seeing seeing parts all scraped up :CWL: I think I like the idea of that skid. Despite losing a bit of clearance. Trying to reason it out, it only loses in that one small area. Usually I don't want that area anywhere near dragging on stuff its a major miscalculation if it does.

I got mine mostly for insurance. Nothing should be hitting it, but wheeling all day over hundreds of rocks and you're bound to not see one, lol

The diffs are the lowest "important" thing on the jeep. Some form of protection there is a good idea in general

The red ARBs have been around a long time with a great track record and they move the oil as it should be moved.

I had them on my tj and really liked them. I was going to buy arbs again here shortly.

I was under the impression that people have been reusing the stock diff gaskets without issue. I believe I actually read that on this forum. I’ve got front and rear arb’s to install, and oil, but did not get new gaskets.

Some re-use the gasket and some do not. I was looking at both the AEV and Teraflex covers. The AEV covers re-use the gaskets. The Teraflex covers do not. Probably need to check each manufacturer individually

Is anyone making a rear diff skid that protects the input pinion? I have the AEV version on my JK, and you can see that it's doing its job, but I haven't seen anything similar for the Advantek D44.
