I’m totally confused. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the Dadiator Diesel!! I thought diesels lasted forever and liked the extra MPG for towing.

So is this like Russian Roulette or what? IF the pump fails I’m out a vehicle indefinitely? How concerned should I be about this? Found one on the lot not far from me.

if it’s not as big of a deal as I’m thinking, do you think dealers would be looking to move these and maybe I can get a better deal?
Will, why are you called Stinky? Asking for a friend.?

Don’t get me wrong I want to pull the trigger. I’ve wanted the diesel all along and was hoping it would maybe be an option for a Mo Jave at some point. I just hate the idea of potentially going to battle with dealership over repairs with to potential Yeep Will try to walk away from these issues.
Pull the trigger!

I thought I read that the failure rate on these fuel pumps was in the low single digits (somebody find the thread with that info).

I put EDT in every tank, like many do (I have it on subscribe-n-save at Amazon, one bottle every 3 months or so?). I'm not worried. I smile a lot! There will eventually be a fix and I don't expect failure between now and then. I'm at 16k miles.

I ordered a Diesel Gladiator 1-2-23 that was built ready to ship since Feb 21st. Wednesday this week i was told FCA is issuing a full stop sale notice.. wth?.. PS Diesels are NOT built with manuals, they have the 8HP75 heavy-duty auto transmission.
I HEARD TODAY NATIONWIDE RECALL BECAUSE OF THE FUEL PUMP ISSUES AND NO ANSWERS IN SIGHT..ORDERED MINE 6 WEEKS AGO STILL NOTHING AND FOUND OUT TODAY THATS WHY.. THEY HAVE 7 DIESELS ON THE LOT BUT CAN'T SELL BECAUSE OF IT..SUX.....GOOD LUCK..

Thank you. Still waiting.. I've been on the phone several times with dealer & FCA care, rebates wanting a CDI# to hold all incentives until its able to be sold..and they all sing and dance and have useless information. Jeep was delivered finally to the dealer to sit there 2 weeks ago 5-22-23. Took pictures with it, sat in it.. the saga continues. I've Heard August 5000 units will be released for repair ansld 2500 each month after that....

I would gladly have the pump replaced if it was available.

So here is the BIG question. If I drive my Diesel Gladiator while there is this recall and the pump fails and damages the engine who is responsible?

That would be FCA.

Now could be an ideal time to sell the diesel as private party.

The recent Gladiators that are outside of the recall period still have the CP4.2 injection pump, just like all the recalled ones. No matter what they try to do to harden that pump against our "bad" fuel, it has an inherent design problem that causes shrapnel to be pumped throughout the fuel system and into the injectors (clogging them) when it starts to fail. A failing pump will cause the engine to abruptly stall (which is the reason for the recall) as well as $10K or so of damage to the fuel system. They need to design this problem out of it or replace it with a good pump such as a CP3 that does not have this problem. The CP4 is a truly dumb design. No consideration was given to its failure and the damage it would cause.
I was going to say how do those Ram cummins diesels go 300k+ (on pump) running on our bad fuel but Im thinking of the 250hp earlier 2013-ish era. I guess its the new pump thats having issues.
Maybe higher pressure is pushing technology?

The 2019 and 2020 Ram Cummins have the CP4 fuel pumps. Because of the issues with it. Cummins went back to the CP3 pump in 2021. And Ram is paying owners back when they convert the CP4 pump to the CP3 pump.
