Well since we have time... I'm curious if that is your BC in your profile picture? I've got a couple, a classic black and white with the working drive of a tractor and a red merle who follows her lead.
She came with the wife. She's a BC/Corgi mix, so shes a really fast lowrider ?

I have a blue heeler that is the same age and those two just run each other stupid all day.

I seen this video a couple of days ago and if accurate, they have two system pay structure.

I know at my work about two contracts ago around 2008-2009, the company pushed hard for the two tier pay structure. The higher one for the legacy employees and the knee capped one for the new and supplemental employees brought on later. What is not talked about in a lot discussions on past union contracts is that the senior Union people will sell out the newer union guys since they have the votes to make them take it and they keep their higher pay and benefits intact.
That jives with what my railroad buddy was telling me about their unions. But there the old school is very much still in charge and still relatively young.

STOP replying in this thread. While it may seem fun to bait members you don't like into getting themselves banned....it sucks for the rest of us.

I'm at 2/2 points...one more 'offense' and I'm gone.. I've posted several threads detailing installs no one else ever has. I feel like I've contributed much more than most. Yet I'm on thin ice.

Eff these idiotic political rant threads that destroy the forum. Log onto Facebook if you want to spew your politics no one cares about.

I agree, the whole thread has been bait and an "attractive nuisance" that should have been closed before it rolled into a second page if they want to keep their "no politics" mantra alive.

While I may not have agreed with a lot of what @Pescatoral Pursuit has said here, he or anybody else in this thread that express any opinion should not have been banned.

What happens to employees that cross the picket line to work?
They are called the heroes and should be rewarded for doing so.

The problem is people just can't help themselves. There were many pages of posts in this thread that were actually conversations, actually productive. Nobody ever had to start the "us vs them" conversations. Yet they did, and used the topic at hand to build the soap box. We see this all over the place, it doesn't matter the topic.

In my opinion there was, and still is, a legitimate conversation here. Just like other threads, it's unfortunate that these things always get twisted into an unrecoverable mess like this.

Guys, let dispense with the political discussion and police bashing...

I don't give a tinkers damn about your politics or your thoughts on the police.

This thread is about the UAW strike...

BTW, Ford will be the 1st to cave or declare bankruptcy...

Think the political debate he had was fine. Assuming his attack on a fellow forum member is the issue. Not sure the "baiting" no one has to reply to anything... take responsibility for yourself and what you say, pretty simple.

It's just getting started. GM laid off 2,000 workers today, Stellantis is laying off 370. Stellantis claims they have 90 days of inventory, so I would expect this one to go for a while. Ford will probably cave first.
So much for "solidarity", huh?

The selfishness of the unskilled factory workers is causing the actually skilled non-union employees to get fired

I seen this video a couple of days ago and if accurate, they have two system pay structure.

Supplemental employees at $15.78 and max at $19.28.

Fulltime start at $17.00 and max out at $31.75.

I know from my work (Aerospace) that has a UAW union, there is myriad of pay structures based on job classification and vary more than that and usually way higher (but they are usually more skilled). So I would not take the video claims as gospel that everybody at Stellantis UAW union is make those wages and probably a bit more for some full time employees.

Fast forward now, a lot of the senior guys have aged out and retired and now that lower tier pay structured employees are wanting their due.

Thanks for posting this. Got me looking at the actual pay scale. Seems fulltime would be about right in my opinion (knowing mechanic wages in my area, obviously not the same geography though) but the supplemental here are the ones really getting screwed. If they are just being strung along with promise of full time that is not right. However, no one is making them stay there either....

Why? That's a great way to get ahead and make money while no one else is

"Solidarity" is for suckers

That does not work out in reality in the long run.

You run the inevitable risk of mental and quite possible physical harassment of both oneself and family from the Union because they will find out who you are. Then if you are an actual member that broke the strike line and the strike is settled and everybody else comes back to work, that person who broke the strike line will face both overt and covert harassment. In many ways, Unions run themselves like a mafia to get their way and if you think "well that is illegal and I will report them to the police", good luck with that.

Had a former co-worker that broke the strike line when McDonnell Douglas went out on strike for 90+ days back in 1996. He had a pretty sick kid and needed the medical to continue and went back to work. Both him and his family had to in the middle of the night move two counties over to escape the harassment and threats. Both him and other outside scabs brought in had to take a leased prison bus to transport in and out of the facility and run a gauntlet that was something out of a Mad Max movie. When the strike settled and everybody went back, his car would be keyed and tires slashed quite regularly. They would get in his lunch pail and throw in dead rats or whatever small roadkill they could find. Was talked through and around like he was a ghost not even present plus a bunch of other things I could go on about. Eventually took it's toll and he quit.
