It's just getting started. GM laid off 2,000 workers today, Stellantis is laying off 370. Stellantis claims they have 90 days of inventory, so I would expect this one to go for a while. Ford will probably cave first. Is the strike over yet?
I seen this video a couple of days ago and if accurate, they have two system pay structure. So do we know what wage they are paid? Starting pay? Max pay?

I would say 4-6 weeks at the most. I’d be shocked if it goes 90 days. It's just getting started. GM laid off 2,000 workers today, Stellantis is laying off 370. Stellantis claims they have 90 days of inventory, so I would expect this one to go for a while. Ford will probably cave first.
This probably traces back to the recession, I know my workplace's bargaining unit made a lot of concessions, wage and hourly pay cuts (making not just the take home pay a big deal, but also longer time worked required for pension), loss of seniority pay for new employees, longer time to "top out" within your range, and a few other I am probably not thinking of. Although there has been nothing as extreme, there have been some positive things happening for us in the last few years, not enough to not make us feel inflation, but movement is movement.I seen this video a couple of days ago and if accurate, they have two system pay structure.
Supplemental employees at $15.78 and max at $19.28.
Fulltime start at $17.00 and max out at $31.75.
I know from my work (Aerospace) that has a UAW union, there is myriad of pay structures based on job classification and vary more than that and usually way higher (but they are usually more skilled). So I would not take the video claims as gospel that everybody at Stellantis UAW union is make those wages and probably a bit more for some full time employees.
I know at my work about two contracts ago around 2008-2009, the company pushed hard for the two tier pay structure. The higher one for the legacy employees and the knee capped one for the new and supplemental employees brought on later. What is not talked about in a lot discussions on past union contracts is that the senior Union people will sell out the newer union guys since they have the votes to make them take it and they keep their higher pay and benefits intact.
Fast forward now, a lot of the senior guys have aged out and retired and now that lower tier pay structured employees are wanting their due.
She came with the wife. She's a BC/Corgi mix, so shes a really fast lowrider ?Well since we have time... I'm curious if that is your BC in your profile picture? I've got a couple, a classic black and white with the working drive of a tractor and a red merle who follows her lead.
That jives with what my railroad buddy was telling me about their unions. But there the old school is very much still in charge and still relatively young.I seen this video a couple of days ago and if accurate, they have two system pay structure.

I agree, the whole thread has been bait and an "attractive nuisance" that should have been closed before it rolled into a second page if they want to keep their "no politics" mantra alive.I wish @JAY would just delete these threads instead of culling the community.
They are called the heroes and should be rewarded for doing so.What happens to employees that cross the picket line to work?
