Sorry guys, no exciting back story. I believe it happened during the Superbowl as that is the only time the garage door was open. Yes, it was in the garage. I took the Jeep out that morning to get some beer and brats for the game (also filled the gas tank). I usually close the garage door but for some reason I left it open. I did not close it until after the game when I went to bed. Garage door has been closed and I have not driven it since. Noticed the white crystal stuff Thursday evening when I went in the garage to get a tool. I am Widowed and don't have any enemies (that I know of). I am totally baffled. Someone just walking down the sidewalk with a bag of sugar says "hey, that garage door is open, I think I will dump my sugar in the gas tank.
I did call the cops. just to make a report and see if this is a trend around here.
I will have time tomorrow to drop the tank and go from there.
Thanks for all the advice,
Varooom
Well then, I'll just go about my day. I was waiting for that crazy redhead story or the psycho ex seeking revenge. Sorry for your lose and your Jeep.

I will gladly tell anybody that’ll listen that big corporations are ruining this world. I Paid $30k for my HVAC unit which is super efficient, and I’m pretty happy that theTVA is shutting down their biggest coal plant to go to natural gas at the Cumberland plant. And my clan comes from coal country, so I’m not really interested in hearing about who it impacts… the coal dust killed a bunch of relatives, so I also consider it a far safer way to go.

But Jeep Gladiators and newer Wranglers dont amount to a thimble full of water out of the oceans when it comes to pollution. Look up ship breaking. Look up the mountain sized landfills in India that are burning every Day. Look at the maps of private planes leaving the Super Bowl. We Americans are being tricked into thinking that we can individually make a difference, and unless we are just outright burning tires in the backyard or have members here who have their own jets, we aren’t the problem. Should we do what we can? Sure. But we little folk ain’t the issue.
I'd take a private jet though. I mean that would be cool.

I used to do this all the time and still do, but now it doesn't matter. I got a Chamberlain MyQ lift motor which you can program to auto close. I have it set to auto close at 9, 10, and 11pm as somewhere around there is where I usually leave it open! Sometimes I'll be in there at those specific times and it will try to close on me, but it flashes the lights and makes a bunch of racket for 15 seconds before it does and I can cancel it.

Dropping the tank on the gladiators is much much easier than a 2 door wrangler. I have done both. At least on the gladiator the hose connectors are all accessible where on a 2 door wrangler the connectors are on top and you need to do it by feel, not by eyesight.

It is definitely sugar, I tasted it. Luckily I have not started the engine (3.6) so its in the gas tank only. Full tank. I guess I will have to drop the tank and clean out. Could sifening work? Open to any and all sugestions.
Thanks for your time,

Had this happen on a piece of construction equipment one time on a project. CAT scraper. Cost $30K to fix. Do not start the vehicle under any circumstances or even turn the motor over. Drop the tank. If full of fuel, siphon or pump some out, then drop tank, dispose of fuel, flush the tank out thoroughly several times, thoroughly flush out the filler spout and pipe to tank, reinstall, and refill with fresh fuel. Good luck to you. Hope you find out who did this to you.

I wonder if they just poured some out around the cap with the cap being closed.
That’s what I was thinking. This could be more of a prankster(s) rather than a criminal(s), though this is not funny at all cuz it requires time and maybe money to fix even if just for peace of mind.

Brightside.
They left evidence of the vandalism so you didn't drive it. Might need to invest in a camera or two. I'd rather someone punch me in the face than mess with one of my vehicles, that's a scum-bag move.

Just ordered some cameras today, along with a locking gas cap. I have cameras inside the house, not outside. Stupid me.

Funny, they did not touch my Challenger or the two vehicles outside. This is just getting weirder.
