So after getting the software update and getting the ESS and CEL the next day I went back to the dealership and they reset everything and told me to drive it for 30 miles or so for the system to re-learn. After doing this I have not gotten the CEL light but have had the ESS on multiple times. Never once have I gotten a light if stop / started multiple times during the day, its only after it has sat for several hours. When the ESS went off I checked the codes and it was holding a pending P0300. It has been the same pending code every time the ESS has gone off. I did notice it doesn't go off until the vehicle starts moving. I can put it in drive and sit with no ESS light but as soon as I move forward it goes off.

This is where I ended up. The dealer made it easy and just traded. No haggling and switched out my aftermarket equipment.

Fingers Crossed for you that this is one of the Great Ones and not one of our Lemons.

Unfortunately there looks like there is no easy fix for the Glads that have the issue. It looks like software and one might still get the at least get the ESS problem and maybe both lights return. Complete rebuild of the head and one might still get the issue. Someone had a complete motor rebuild and still got the issue. Or, a buy back and yes-two folks got the issue on their second Glad. Hopefully I won’t be one of those.

Nice summary.
Also I spoke with a few other Glad. owners and they have not had a problem with theirs. Too risky however to chance it again by having them give me an even exchange.. The inconvenience is tough when you own your own business.

Absolutely it is! I own my own business as well. So-ready for the build date? 12-19-just like the last one. Again, if the “swap” hadn’t been so easy then I would have pushed for a much later build date. I totally understand your not wanting to risk it. If I had put the money into a Rubicon I’d be incredibly livid and totally walk away. I mean-I want to think good thoughts since the dealer said he has not had any other Gladiators with this issue and he says he’s sold 40 of them this year. He says he has a personal friend who has one of those and no problems. I guess I’m hoping if we do have an issue with this one then he will do the right thing when it comes to handling that. So far I have faith in the way we’ve been treated by this dealer. VERY responsive-within 45min of saying “we’re done” he calls with the idea of the swap and credit towards this one for the 2 payments I made. He’s trying.

Is anyone just driving with the CEL on and seeing what happens? My JT doesn't seem to be having any actual misfires. It runs just fine with and without the CEL. My CEL has, to date, come on and turned off on its own 4 out of the 5 times it's thrown the P0300 code. The dealer cleared the code the second time it came on and of course they couldn't find anything wrong. I finally have an appointment on 8/8 to replace my backup camera. I'll have them look for evidence of misfiring then. Just curious to see if anyone was else was riding it out, either on purpose or due to circumstance?

Does it idle really rough? Quite a few of us with the P0300 are experiencing a rough idle. There could be multiple issues here.

Back in the shop. 3rd time with just over 2000 miles. This time I had it for 4 days. I have put more miles on the loaner vehicle than the Gladiator.
Crossroads Jeep has been very responsive and has done everything they can do to help. It seems like they are always waiting on FCA to tell them what to do next.
I have looked into VA lemon laws and notified the dealer that if it is not fixed this time we will have to sit down and figure out how to get me out of this Jeep.
Do I get a replacement or just walk away??

Based on the success rate I’m seeing on this forum, I’m guessing I’ll be in the same boat shortly. I’m personally going to give them another shot. I’ve driven Jeeps all my life and they’ve always been great vehicles. The Pentastar is a proven engine. I think we were all part of a bad batch. Unless it can be fixed without drastic measures, I will probably request a new one, but I won’t touch a replacement built between October 2019-February 2020. I only wish jeep would recognize the problem, step up, and do the right thing. I’ve only owned the vehicle a month, and I’m a few days away from 50% of that time in the shop. It sucks that they’re fiddling around with it and making me progressively more frustrated when everybody involved knows where this is headed. This wasn’t my expectation when purchasing a brand new vehicle.

Welp....finally received my buy back offer. It took some time (primarily my pain and suffering) but I will say that the FCA is making it right. This is my JT that will be going back to the dealers in a couple of weeks. Thought I could walk away, but after going 'naked', I kinda want to give another JT a try. Looking for some convincing... ;-)

Yep your dealer sounds very good. I paid cash for mine so I prefer to get 100% of it back, and move on.
